I quickly read through the Wikipedia articles for both movies, and "Hard Boiled" sounds a lot like Kill Bill

And "A Hollywood remake [for "The Killer"] has for many years been in development, but various factors have kept it in development hell."

Opps. You're right; The Man Who Knew Too Little is the one I was thinking off. Sorry

I guess you could say I've seen the 'westernized" ones.
So while I've enjoyed them, The Bride and Prejudice and Monsoon Wedding are current favorites, my experience with them is really limited.

Just found out that next year (2007) is the 25th anniversary of "Blade Runner" and a different version ("Blade Runner: The Final Cut") will be shown in theaters for a short time. This is said the be the true director's cut of the movie, the way Ridley Scott really wanted the movie to be. The DVD will be released soon after (possibly called "Blade Runner: The Ultimate Edition"). Can't wait for that one...now we'll finally get to see "Blade Runner" the way Ridley Scott really envisioned it.

You've never seen "Blade Runner"? Really? Wow...I don't have it on DVD but I wore out my original theatrical release VHS tape a long time ago. I was planning to pick up the recently released version of the Director's Cut (Remastered Limited Edition) but now may just wait for the 25th anniversary version instead.

Soylent Green. mm mm good. I saw it a few years ago for a class: the "History of the Future" but picked it up from Amazon recently. I'm going to make my gf watch it with me. =)

That was a good class. We saw a few other films like Blade Runner, The HandMaid's Tale, Gattaca and a few other goodies.

Cricket, I couldn't seem to find the movie you recommend (back when I saw The Protector)...perhaps I should look on Amazon.

I'm thinking about seeing crank tonight, but I don't think my dad would want to watch it.

Well, no need now... I called blockbuster, (who didn't have it last weekend) and they had it - so I just picked it up and watch on later tonight. If I like it, I will probably buy it... our movie collect is lacking in the martial arts area.

Thanks,
Ryan

Any one seen "V for Vendetta"?

Its great. I guss you could say its a bit like Equilibrium. If you like action and some politics, watch this. (Its also directed by the Wachowski brothers so yeah, its good. )

I've watched "V For Vendetta" a couple of times now and think it's a movie that grows on you. I'm enjoying it more each time I watch it. Haven't seen "Equilibrium" but will keep my open for it...sounds interesting and it has a good cast.

Watched "Kill Bill: Vol. 1" and "Kill Bill: Vol. 2" again yesterday...always fun to watch.

Currently watching "Seven Samurai" again...one of the best movies ever made. Just ordered the new Criterion Collection two disk remastered high definition version of the film. Can't wait to watch that one.

Ong Bak was very good. I really enjoyed it and its cast was very similar to that in The Protector. Thanks for the recommendation .

I saw the Covenant... great movie! It didn't drag on or anything like most modern films do.

I don't remember the name of it, but the upcoming movie with Robin Williams and a political theme looks awesome. I can't wait for that one to come out.

Just watched a movie called "Kids"...pretty disturbing. If this is an accurate portrayal of teens in America, then it's no wonder our society is going downhill.

Movie was made in 1995 and has a very young Rosario Dawson and Chloe Sevigny in it.

ooh i saw this flick when it was released in the theatres, lots of controversy surrounding it. i can't honestly say whether or not it's an accurate portrayal, but i don't think it's unreasonable to think that there are at least certain groups of friends who are like this, especially in new york city.

I just watched a preview for Kids, and I think it looks brilliant. While I act relatively civilized for 16 year olds, I know that, just from the preview, it looks to be a pretty accurate image of teenage life. I'll try to rent it or view it online.

I saw Jet Li's fearless last night and it was amazing. I love almost any movie with martial arts and when it actually has plot, a good story, and character development its amazing. I highly recomend it to anyone.

Thumbs up

Just saw Inside Man.
It's definitely worth your time and money and it's got a surprise.
The soundtrack is good solid movie stuff that does what it should, no complaints there, but the opening and closing track is a remix of a Bollywood song, Chaiyya Chaiyyah Bollywood Joint, that's just fantastic.
When I got done watching the movie I headed straight for iTunes.
It's album only!
Apple you got it wrong!

I enjoyed "Inside Man" too. Awesome cast and director. I've seen Clive Owen in "Gosford Park", "The Bourne Identity", "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead", "Closer" and "Sin City" and I'm really beginning to like this British actor a lot...I think he should have been tapped to be the next James Bond instead of Daniel Craig.

I'm also beginning to really like Chiwetel Ejiofor a lot too...seen him in "Amistad", "Dirty Pretty Things" (great movie with Audrey Tautou), "Love Actually", "Four Brothers" and "Serenity" and think he's a really fine actor.

Just got back from Employee of the Month - There were a few funny parts, but overall I didn't particularily like it. A cookie cutter comedy movie if you ask me.

i saw inside man a while back and enjoyed it.
Pam, as for the soundtrack, its from a bollywood film called Dil Se (From the Heart) and its done by a well known composer called A.R. Rahman he has done soundtracks for a lot of bollywood films. If you Liked Chaiyya Chaiyya, you should get a copy of the whole Dil Se soundtrack.
