What spam filter do you use?
Hi all,
First off I apologize if this is in the wrong category. I thought about General Software but it does deal with a specific program: Outlook. I am using Microsoft Outlook 2003 and I don't find even the strongest junk-email filtering setting to be good enough to filter out the spam (I still get 10-15 more that bypass it into my Inbox daily). A couple years back I used to use this great free program that actually embedded itself into Outlook and did an awesome job of keeping the spam out, but I can't remember the name. Does anyone know of any good, free, spam filters for MS Outlook? Something that will snap-in just like another toolbar or menu selection? Thanks! Brandon

Don't have an answer for your second question, but as far as "which spam filter" goes: I don't use one. I kinda do the reverse. I have folders for almost all knon contacts and categories and use Rules to download emails directly to their respective folder. One example is all PC Mechanic stuff goes right to it's own folder.
What that does is leave everything else in the Inbox. I do like some junk email, such as sales promotions from Newegg, Geeks, and so on. And since all the junk is in one place, I can breeze thru it all in just seconds. HTH TR |

Spam filter? I use the "don't give out my serious email address to anyone I don't know" filter.
You can have and publish my "junk address" all you want, havn't checked that one any more than once every 3 or 4 months. I also have a "ecommerce" address for ordering off the web.... |

). The last two get a decent amount of spam but the server does a good job of flagging them as spam so I can set up rules within Outlook to direct those to another folder. You could try setting up a rule to direct all emails from legit sources (ie, anyone your contacts) to a seperate folder...

I run a wide variety of support for multiple mediums. I'm starting the transition over to my own web host's email, but nevertheless I'm getting tons of junk email.
No, if I didn't want your Rolex yesterday, I don't want it today. EDIT: Anyways, I believe the program I once used was in a "Daily Downloads" email from PCMech... that is why I am asking. |

I use mailwasher without the bounce feature.. it just attracts more spam.

Ah, nevermind. It wasn't in an email, it was a link in the pinned Free Software List. The snap-in is called K9, and it is superb:
