There is the story about the guy in the States that put out the following ad:
Time Running Out. Send In Your Dollar Now" By the time someone coomplained, he had already made almost 1 million dollars. The courts apparently dismissed the complaint on the basis that no implicit promises of service were made. Is this a true story or just one of those "Legends"? |

Quite possibly true... a friend and I once checked it out and a "legal scam" here in Canada is to place an ad in the newspapers stating "Make lots of money working at home stuffing envelopes, send $5 and SASE for informative brochure and start making money NOW! No commitments, no contracts, work when YOU want to!"
Well, all you do is wait for your replies, then when you get them, send a letter in the SASE provided that states, "Place an ad in the newspaper that says......". So really.. what am I doing... I'm stuffing envelopes and sending them to idiots that send me money... I have as promised, no committment, no contract and work at my liesure.

Yeah, we've got that around here and we've got something else as well. Buy back the Panama Canal I kid you not, send these guys $10 and an SASE and they'll tell you how. I thought it was a stupid joke when my mom showed it to me but it seems it's a legit scam. |

I feel left out.
I only get phony pharmaceutical, home and car loan and hot stock tip scam emails. If I knew where dynamic(change this part daily). com was located, I would mail them all the leftovers when I clean my fish, instead of leaving them in the trash can at the lake.

LoL, this thread made me laugh.
After a while on gmail without spam, I now get random stock inflation messages where they claim a certain stock will skyrocket. In the disclaimer it says they were awarded free possession of several thousand (or million) shares that they soon plan to sell and that anyone who listens to their advice will most likely lose money.

Man, all I get are penis enlargement ads and ways to sell my timeshare. I've used the first type to grow my own condo, and the latter type to rent it out. It's pretty lucrative.

I have been getting really wierd ones in broken english that are trying to tell a story. I have started reading them and they are just nuts. I think there was supposed to be a virus attatched to them but earthlink or AVG strips them out before outlook gets to it. Still wierd though.
