Why I left Comcast in a nut shell

Comcast Technician sleeping on the couch. Not my couch, but still epitomizes Comcast in my eyes. I've been trying to cancel my Comcast broadband for the last week - constantly on hold, and when I do get a real person, I'm asked to hold again so they can verify with a manager that I'm closing that part of my account. I end up hanging up because I just don't have time to wait that long.

I've registered complaints with my local cable authority, the FCC, the BBB and the attorney general of Michigan.

Why are you cancelling though? I have had great service from Comcast including not having to go through hell trying to talk to a real human. Obviously, I have not tried to cancel though. In that respect it sounds like the same experience many have had with AOL.

call the local office in your area.
the 800 number is in pittsburgh i believe......

as far as the guy going to sleep, i used to work for them. he should have called his dispatcher and could have had things taken care of much faster....thats crazy he stayed on hold that long.....and fell asleep.

It just occured to me... how do we know that guy was actually a Comcast Technician? He could've been the moviemaker's best bud, sleeping at the couch

Or am I missing something...

Simply put, their product is highly over priced. I can get comparable DSL for under $20/month. I already have DirecTV and their Total Choice Premier package w/HD. With D-TV I get 31 premium movie channels versus Comcast's 10 in their Digital Platinum package, I get more sports, More HD, more overall channels, more everything for less money. I use an antenna for my local channel HD feeds because Comcast downcodes HD in this market (I know...D-TV downcodes as well, but not as much as Comcast).

So for everything I have, I pay $140/month. Comparable package from Comcast (including premium channel upgrades, rental on HD equipment)...$178/Month. $450 a year I can put elsewhere.

"Comcast" is like several different companies. Out West, people seem very pleased with them. No doubt this is because they are really some other smaller cable company that Comcast bought out and mostly left alone. Here in the mid-Atlantic area, Comcast is ... unspeakably bad. I won't deal with them at all, period, for anything. They are the only broadband offering in my area currently, and I'll die with dialup if they remain the only alternative.

hi,

i agree with you, as a consummer i never take lip like that- non of it. comsummer is always number 1.

why does you cancelling have to do with teh manager? WHAT? if teh mannager says no then u cant cancell?? rediculous.

Also to lest you know one agency more powerful than those u have filed is your state cosummer prtection agency. Give them a call and within a week the CEO os comcast will be sending you baskets.

peace
