Revenge on bandwidth-stealers!

A guy has a wireless network. His neighbor is accessing it without permission. Now, most people would either not care, or would turn on some sort of security to prevent this. But this guy wants to have a little bit more fun. How about the Kittennet? Or the Upside-Down-Ternet? Or maybe even the Blurrynet?

I like his style.

L O L. Awesome!

Unless, in here we are more practical: we lay criminal charges on broadband moochers.

No he isnt ..

I'm starting here by splitting the network into two parts, the trusted half and the untrusted half. The trusted half has one netblock, the untrusted a different netblock. We use the DHCP server to identify mac addresses to give out the relevant addresses.

Heheh! I like that "blurry net" one at the end of the page! I mean, the others are good too, but the user might suspect something's being done to them. With the blurry one, I can just see them trying to tweak all their monitor settings, reloading their video drivers, or even buying a new video card coz the old one seems faulty!

I like this.

It is beyond what I know how to do, but I would love to set something like that up.

Even worse, imagine them calling tech support (maybe the computer's support line) and trying to explain the problem. They'd think the customer is crazy.

It should be set up so if the people swiping bandwidth have multiple computers they are using to connect, only one of their computer's does it.

I use the same setup, trusted/untrusted wireless, that way I can keep guests Windows machines off of my network and still give them internet access, and my neighbors are free to mooch if they so choose.
