Unhappy PCmech, A Fresh Start?

Well, i must say, im really feeling kind of bad to how i'v started, i'v not insulted people, iv well, annoyed them.

I type stupid, unnessary things, hijack peoples threads, and several moderators have warned me, now i have read " Proper Posting Etiquette - List Here!" and "Rules" and thought about what i'v done, and im willing to make a fresh start.

Im going to keep on the topic, not spam and do unnessary things, i will EDIT, rarther than creat a new reply, and gerneally just use common sence.

To Everyone, Pmech, and all moderators who have warned me, Im very sorry, and would like to make a fresh start as of now, im willing to forget everything i did wrong, not talk about it, and be a new Wizard.

Please say you have read this, (just by putting names down, giving tips, or what have you) so i know.

Any advice, comments would be grately apperchiated

Sorry, And Thankyou

CW

Post wisely...be considerate and respectful of others...post to a thread only if you really know the answers and are not guessing or assuming anything...behave...

Glad you're willing to change your ways.

I've always believed we grow through forgiveness and understanding. You've shown character and courage by your straightforward apology. Thanks for that.

No Problem

"You are English be proud of it and speak English not abbreviated web speak.

Yes i read that in "Proper Posting Etiquette - List Here!" But in somecase, i mix the letters around, and sometimes i cant help it, so i re read it and have to EDIT it. Also if i cant spell it, ill spell it the best, and hopefully you will understand. (e.g. i cant spell acknolage, or is that correct?)

I agree..."web-speak", "geek/leet-speak" or chatroom type abbreviations are frowned upon here.

I wasn't involved in any of the treads you mention, but it's nice to see someone take the "bigger" route than the easy route. No matter how you say "ops" or "sorry" it can be a big pill to swallow, but it's good medicine. So, kudos to you Chris_Rootes_Wizard.

Another trick for spell checking that I use on longer posts is to use my email or word processor to make the post, using their built in spell checker, the paste into the thread.

Spelling doesn't really count as long as you get your point across - we just don't like IM speak and stuff like that.

Chris, we still have a problem, as I indicated in my PM to you. I have to tell you this - you are on your FINAL warning. Note that we do not do "timeouts" here, we only do permanent expulsions.

We appreciate your apology, but that doesn't automatically make everything all better, you have to correct the original problem in order to earn the forgiveness. You are halfway there, you KNOW what the problem is, but you have to FIX it.

before you hit "submit reply", simply ask yourself:

"If someone responded to me this way, how would I feel?"

and GLC is right, to fix the problem you have to acknowledge the problem, you have taken the 1st step, now put one foot in front of the other toward solving the problem.

I'm gonna give you 3 BIG tips.

1. Do NOT ask questions in OTHER PEOPLE'S threads. Start your own threads for your own issues.
2. Do NOT give the SAME answer that someone ELSE has already given, and do NOT make a post just to say you agree.
3. Learn how to use Google (or other search engines) effectively.

Humm, okay.

"Do NOT ask questions in OTHER PEOPLE'S threads. Start your own threads for your own issues."

I was going to do that today, but i figured out the anwser after re reading it a couple of times

"2. Do NOT give the SAME answer that someone ELSE has already given, and do NOT make a post just to say you agree."

Okay.

"Learn how to use Google (or other search engines) effectively."

Yes, i should really, mainly to research before i post.

"If someone responded to me this way, how would I feel?"

Humm, yes, i never really thought of it that way.

If you want to draw attention to a point in another post ie "Quote" somebody, learn to use the "Quote" button at the bottom of each post and simply edit out the part of the post you don't want.

I was going to suggest the same thing. Just copying and pasting the text and then using quote marks in your posts makes them confusing to read.

Chris....

I think you're on the right track now....I think...

Hopefully you get it all figured out before you get that vacation...You have gotten some good advise here... if you use it wisely you'll be fine...

I know people have their own way of doing things but... in a common place such as this there are rules to keep everyone on the same page...

Where you run into trouble is when people come here and don't read the rules 1st...

Basically you need to be curtious...just like your little 5year old brother/sister was here reading and seeking advice....

Now you wouldnt want someone not-so-curtious giving bad advise or crapping in there thread would you...? I sure hope not...

Dont think they are singling you out.... because I am afraid people do this all the time...but be thankfull you get warnings and a chance to correct the problem...before you really need the help and can no longer be here...

your goal is to learn as much as you posibly can here...once you learn then intern you help others as much as you can...you know return the favor...

Yes, i see your point, but sometimes hijacking peoples thread is the easies way to learn (in a way), for example, asking what a specific thing means mentioned in a subject, which a simple anwser would be easier than starting a new topic about it, when i need a single post anwser. How about that? Can i ask in that subject or post a new one?

Think of it as school. Do your teachers get on your case for talking out of turn in class? Hijacking threads is RUDE.

If you don't know what something means, TRY GOOGLE FIRST. Look it up, don't do it the lazy way! As said before, this is a forum, not a chatroom.

Also, read EVERYTHING that is said. You aren't doing that, the issue with quotes that RJF and Cricket mentioned is the SAME thing I told you in that PM yesterday.

Yeah, but i mean if i'v looked it up, and dont find it/ understand it could i say "sorry for hijacking, could i ask a question" sort of thing, then ask, OR should i make a new post? Thats what i mean, not just butting in doing the "lazy way"

Sorry i didnt make it clear enought.

You STILL are not reading! Not only that, there is NO need to quote everything that's said.

"You STILL are not reading!"

I am reading, you say Hijacking a thread is rude right?? Well, do i go around not knowing what it means then!?

I guess you meant to say make a new thread asking the question, when all it envolves a simple anwser, i didnt get when looking it up in google or anything.

Ok, I've listened to this quietly long enuf. Chris, you're NOT getting the message! Even if you think asking a question in someone else's thread is a quick way to learn, that's not how we do things around here! If someone uses a term or refers to a something you don't understand, use google to try to find the meaning or the answer. If you still need clarification, then start a new thread. DO NOT ask a question in someone else's thread - PERIOD! Clear??!!

Instead of rewriting or copy/pasting someone else's comments in your own message, use the Quote button at the bottom right of the post you wish to quote. Maybe you would do well to use the "Post Reply" button on the bottom left instead of the Quick Reply at the bottom of the thread. "Post Reply" offers more options.

Lastly, do not give advice to someone with information you may not be sure of. Unless you have first hand knowledge (you've done it yourself!) or you can link to a reputable site as an answer, keep your ideas to yourself. This site is visited by many folks that make their living repairing and networking pc's. Plus many others are students in the pc, networking, programming, website development and associated fields. This isn't a place to post an idea you think might work. Someone else's data may depend entirely on the info they receive here.

I'm being direct with this advice for a reason. You seem to be persistent in your excuses of why you can't/won't follow our rules. Either change now or, as glc has warned, you will be forever banned from coming here. Your choice. Or has my dad used to say when I was your age, "Shape up or ship out!"
