Hello from Vegas!

Just wanted to say Hey! Amazing my EVDO cellphone (Sprint A900 Blade) connects at 400+ Kbs - Hotel charges $15.99/day for 'broadband' - at a whopping 70-90 Kbs.

We're at the Venitian - everything here is expensive - so I see $15.99 for broadband as cheap around here.

Is it a nice hotel? I've been wanting, although I'm too young to gamble, to go to Vegas and attend DefCon next year (I'm pretty sure it's going to be in Vegas again - the Riviera I think). My parents are fans of the "shows" as well, so I'd probably take a friend and we'd do out thing while they do there thing.

find a starbucks and buy a few day pass.

I had to pay 5 Euro (almost $7) while in Germany this summer for 30 minutes of wireless access. I didn't even look how expensive the day was...

Have fun in Vegas, Dave!

Just got back - Phantom, Blue Man Group, Vegas Bike Week (why I was there - shooting a documentary with a friend) - I'm in sensory overload right now.

All I can say about The Venitian - simply the best. If you want to be taken care of for everything and anything, The Venitian is the place.

And had a good day Saturday - put $2000 on Michigan State/Pitt - they had the points at 52 and Pitt -2.5. Took the over and MSU to win. Score was 35-23 (58 pts) and MSU won by 15 - very good day. Also put $1000 on UM/ND - they had points at 49 and ND by 6. Took the over and UM to win. Very good Saturday.

Was one of the hotels we visited and looked great. The gal bud and I hit the Craps tables from around 7 p.m. until 4 a.m. We stayed at Harrah's and tried sleeping until noon but with all the housekeeping noises and hearing folks flush toilets and slamming doors, sleep was difficult. After 4 days we had toothpicks in our eyes just to stay awake all night but hard to leave a winning table. Hopefully the Venetian has better walls on our next trip where we plan to stay.

Bikers

Basically I was filling in for his regular videographer. It was spur of the moment - but I figured if I was going, I would go a few days early and enjoy myself with a friend.

The working premise of the decomentary is tribal lifestyles within industrialized society. Bikers (as well as other social groups) display very tribal tendancies and he decided the Vegas show would be a perfect locale to see bikers interact with the idea "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas".

I never heard a peep outside my room. All The Venetian rooms are suites - I had a Venetian Prima Suite which is to die for. If you really want to experince The Venetian at it's fullest, get a Concierge Suite in the Venezia Tower. Unparalleled service - the Venezia Tower is a hotel within a hotel. Seperate services from those offered at The Venetian - you honestly would never know you're in Las Vegas if you prefer to stay within the Tower. Of course the Venezia Tower suites are not for the faint of heart - daily rates are around $1300 for a Concierge suite. Normal suites start around $700/night depending on the season. I had some comps so my suite came in much more reasonably.

Sounds spectacular. Glad you enjoyed it . How much in advance do you think one should book a room?

As soon as you know you'll be planning to go. Week-ends are naturally more crowded.
