How to find legal stuff out?

There are three things I need to know:

How to get my drivers permit.

How to get my GED.

How much of my paycheck I will get to see.

I dont know where to go or who to call to get the answers to any of these questions.

I live in NJ.

Please either tell me who to call, or if you live in NJ, please answer any of these questions.

On your paycheck, you can figure to take about 30% out for taxes. Of course this can go up or down based on the amount of money you will be making.

Considering he's a dependent of his parents, the taxes should be much less than 30% (right?) and he'll probably get all or most of it back depending on his exact financial situation. In other words, Punked out, nobody can tell you about how much of the paycheck you'll see because all the cards aren't on the table yet.

No, initial taxes are about 30% for everyone but aliens. If he submits taxes in April he'll get a bit back, but only if he files independantly. If his parents claim him he's sol.
As for a drivers permit, go to the local DMV, or just give them a call. (thats in a phone book- it lists all gov't numbers somwhere in the front. Take it from me, going to a gov't website is like running on a treadmill.)
As for GED, call your local marine corps recruiter and they will probably set it up for you if they think you'll join. Give 'em the slip of course.
Wow... to be a minor again.... 'i wish, that, i knew what i know now... when i was younger!'

How much money you will see on your paycheck depends on how you fill out your W-4 form. Depending on how you fill it out, you can see either a lot withheld for taxes or a little. If you have too much withheld from your paycheck, when you file your income tax return next year you will get a refund. If you have too little withheld, you will have to pay.

If you make less than a few thousand dollars per year (I don't know what the exact cutoff is these days), you will owe no federal income tax, so it makes sense to not have any withheld.

It's always a shock seeing how much is taken out of your very first paycheck. Welcome to the real world of taxes and big government.
