Are you an engineer ?

OK so this former Comparative Lit. major spent part of a summer vacation on the Erie Canal, but does that make me an engineer ?
I mean there was wine, food and scenery.
All right so I've got all those pictures of locks and gates and ... oh well
Find out if you're an engineer (In case you didn't know it already) : http://www.dbooth.net/internerd/engineers.cfm

I know I'm not an engineer, I've never been near a train.

Definition of Engineer from Wikipedia:
"An engineer is someone who is trained or professionally engaged in a branch of engineering.[1] Engineers use creativity, technology, and scientific knowledge to solve practical problems"

I guess I am an Engineer! We did all that in Plant Biology class :-)

Do we 'Engineer' in our every day lifes?

According to that, I'm an engineer. I don't want to be an engineer! I wanna be a scientist!!

Actually if poets can be considered engineers of words then scientists are engineers as well.
Anything else is just "class warfare".

I was called an engineer in class the other day and promptly defended myself. Title distinctions really don't mean much, but I like to argue. Well, I REALLY like to argue.

Hmm... I wonder if I can call myself an engineer of fine baked goods. I love baking and decorating cakes, but the kitchen in my apartment this year is sadly way too below my requirements. My wedding gift (or at least part of it,) to my soon to be wife is going to be a KitchenAid stand mixer. I anticipate a few arguments over who gets to use it for what.

Last year I was on a Coast Guard cutter getting a personal tour of the engine room while there was an airshow going on outside. ...at least I was not enough of an engineer to have missed the Blue Angels.

My brother is a marine engineer and yeah, he fits many of those descriptions.

Too many fit to deny it.
Funny thing, IBM gave me the title, then took it away.

An engineer is someone who would count how many questions he qualifies under even when not asked to do so. That's okay HAL, at least you did not calculate a percentage.

There are some great links on that website. http://www.dbooth.net/internerd/engineers.cfm Check out Bad Jobs and Cookie Recipe.

Well it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to realize that is roughly 1/4 or 25%

Well, in my head I would calculate that to two decimals.... I wouldn't go as far as you did.

At Christmas, it goes without saying that you will be the one to find the burnt-out bulb in the string of Christmas lights.

You have ever saved the power cord from a broken appliance.
I wouldn't call myself an engineer (not even slightly) but about 15 of those were me. Especially the two I quoted above ^^. I've got a pile of probably 8 or 10 various power cords laying in my closet, and I get to find the bad bulb in the string of Xmas lights because I'm the one with the nifty little voltage detecting meter. Just run that thing along a string of lights until it goes out.

Thank gawd we have Christmas lights in parallel and not series anymore. Yes, I used to be the kid who had to go through every last one of those bulbs looking for the dead one.

If you find that you have to often explain how to use the gifts you have given other people.
The Salespeople at Circuit City can't answer any of your questions

You forget to get a haircut (for 6 months!)
You can quote scenes from any Monty Python movie

You can type 70 words per minute but can't read your own handwriting - maybe not 70 wpm
You can't write unless the paper has both horizontal and vertical lines
You have ever saved the power cord from a broken appliance
You have backed up your hard drive
You have used coat hangars and duct tape for something other than hanging coats and taping ducts
You know what http:// stands for
You own one or more white short-sleeve dress shirts
You see a good design and still have to change it
You wear black socks with white tennis shoes (or vice versa)
You window shop at Radio Shack

Your laptop computer costs more than your car
You've ever tried to repair a $5 radio
Wow; according to this, I'm well on my way to being an engineer.

I think Ryan needs an intervention before it is too late. Go sign up for some art lessons.

Since I've taken so many advanced classes already in high school, and they wont let me graduate early b/c I haven't taken US History or English 12, I'll have around 3 "free" periods next year, which I'll have to fill up with classes like art.
