Thumbs down ZipZoomFly is Terrible

I know this is not a hardware review, but I need to let this out to the community. I am very disappointed in ZipZoomFly. My package has been stuck on the 'Packed' status all day. Like Newegg, they should ship their orders if they are packed, not leave them there over the weekend! Yet I will quote, "The packing stage is an indication that your order will be shipping soon, or may have already been shipped. You can expect a tracking number at the end of the day via email." It is now about 6:30pm PST, and they close at 5:30. Now it may have already shipped, but I have not recieved one email from them except the one confirming that they recieved my order. I have tried contacting them through email, and do not want to call their support line as it isn't toll free. This really angers me. I will never buy anything from ZipZoomFly again. 1/10 for them, just for processing my order.

I will let you know if they email me telling me it has shipped, but I am feeling rather doubtful of that at the moment.

Maybe it's better for this to be in General Discussion.

How long since you placed the order?

I used them once and was actually quite impressed with their speed (faster than Newegg it seemed!), but I'll stick with Newegg since I've been spoiled. The item I ordered wasn't in stock at Newegg at the time...

Yeah, GD is probably the best place for this...one of the mods'll move it.

The order has been done processing since earlier today. They state that they ship their packages soon after they are packed, so maybe they just have not updated or FedEx is having problems.

Asus K8N-DL motherboard (Newegg didn't have it)
Antec NeoHE 500W power supply ($5 cheaper than Newegg)
WD Raptor 10k 74gb 16mb Cache hard drive

All the rest of the parts I ordered from Newegg, those parts are probably already in the next state by now.

If they do not ship my order out today as it is supposed to be, I will not get this package until after all the others get here, delaying my project which I need to complete. Maybe they will give me free next day shipping... *dreams*

Just because the system isn't updated to inidcate the latest status is no reason to have a hissy fit. I've been doing business with ZZF for over 3 years (back when they were known as Google Gear) and have never had a single complaint. It's easy to get spoiled by the service that Newegg offers and perhaps NE has a better tracking/reporting system than ZZF. You also have to keep in mind that ZZF is 3 hours behind you in time zones. I've had orders ship late on Friday and not be reported until the weekend or the start of their business on Mon. Perhaps you should have paid extra to insure it shipped the same day.

If you REALLY want a hassle, start buying from Tiger Direct. They can show you what a real LACK of customer service is like - and pray you don't get a defective part from TD. That's when the FUN begins!

"Perhaps you should have paid extra to insure it shipped the same day."

I did not know they offered this option, if they did, I would have selected it.

How late has your order shipped?

I think I will actually - never have I had a problem with them. Well, that's not fair, all I've bought is a monitor.

Thank you for sharing your experiences, I feel like an idiot now, as I should.

It's not necessarily when it was shipped. I've had my stuff make it out with the normal shipment and just not get an updated status posted on the site. The package was still moving. Additional confusion is caused by FedEx because they often fail to update a shipment status during the weekend. The package keeps moving but you don't find out til Monday where it's located. Frustrating when you're trying to plan the timing of assembling a new build.

Yes, it can be frustrating . Thanks for the help and also I should have realized ZipZoomFly says that it may or may not have shipped when it says 'Packed' (Although that doesn't help much).

Hmm... ZipZoomFly = Not So Bad

I concur. When choosing a vendor it is either NewEgg or ZZF. I never had a problem with either in nearly seven years.

You know... places are run by humans... and humans make mistakes... whether it be an e-mail didn't go out (which is most likely an automated system, which could have had a failure) or whether there was a human error that made it such that the package didn't go out... but to be calling people inept when it's an hour after closing time without any possible explanation as to what is going on, is IMHO, a bit rude. I can see if you consistently ordered from there and consistently received errors, then yes... but it sounds like you're jumping the gun here.

Your right... it turns out the package shipped the same morning. They didn't inform me until the very end of the night. I adjusted my post. I must have been in a bad mood last night. I don't want to disrespect people in particular, I'd rather just share my experiences with their order status system.

Jumped the gun a little bit there eh?

I've always had wonderful service with ZZF. I actually prefer it over newegg on large orders or orders in which the costs on the item are similar because shipping is free. ZZF has always worked in conjunction with my travel plans, when I lived in Buenos Aires, so that I could pick up certain parts at a hotel, etc.

I've learned that it doesn't help to complain unless you intended to do it constructively and to the right people. We aren't the owners of ZZF, and yet I understand you were just ranting and venting a bit, but a well written, properly structured business letter to the right people would have been much, much more effective.

When timing is really important, that's why there is same day shipment.

I got a package from Newegg the other day and I never recieved a tracking number. I wasn't even expecting it yet. I don't think it ever got entered into the system because it didn't come from one of their warehouses. Even Newegg takes a whole day to ship (sometimes a little more). I only know of one faster company that Newegg, but it really only caters to coporations...

Very unprofessional. The domain is even registered through a proxy. If I were the big cheese at Newegg and read this, I'd be rather displeased with my employees. You don't get market share by slamming the competition, you do it by providing a better product/service.

I agree, kind of makes me feel bad for ZipZoomFly now, to have a major competitor do this to them. Shame on Newegg too, if the owners know about this and do not care.

Please understand that I don't agree with purpose of the site, in fact I said something to that fact when I found out about it. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything.

I, too, think ZipZoomFly stinks. ordered once and paid extra for 2 day shipping, received 5 days later...thought as others mistakes happen, so ordered later and paid for 2 day shipping, received 4 days later. shouldn't take my money if they can't deliver.

did you ever call and try to get a refund for the extra cost for priority shipping or two day shipping? most places will at least give you a refund? did you order and request delivery during the business week, or was this all done over the weekend? i know if want stuff delivered on saturdays that you have to explicity ask for it or check that option otherwise if your package comes friday night and is ready for delivery on saturday they wont deliver it till monday.

Let's let this thread go to rest now. It turns out their order status system is just slow.

I'll get the last word in. My order status at ZZF stated PACKED for 3 days. Luckily, I wasn't in desperate need of the parts. That 3rd day, the FED X guy showed up with my package. My OS just hadn't been updated. Maybe that will be your case.

Now, I'm not here to bash anyone. I have ordered from many places on the internet, and had only minor difficulties with any site except for two:
1) ZZF
2) Buy.com

In both of the above cases, I found support to be lacking and their order information to be sub-par. I tried to order a part from ZZF, and it wouldn't authorize the CC. I got an email that said to call them - and I did, 5 times, during business hours, over three different days. I got an answering machine. I left a message and never got a call back. A week later, I canceled the order. I will not do business with them again.

On buy.com, I ordered an MP3 player that supposedly had 120 in stock on Saturday when I ordered it. Monday, it says "sent to warehouse". Tuesday, no change. Wednesday, no change. I emailed their support, and did not get a reply for 24 hours. Then, the email didn't exactly make sense, so I called, and was informed the product was out of stock and I would get one as soon as they got more. I waited, and waited, and waited. They never got any more, and finally they sent me notification via email that the product was out of stock and would not be returning for some time. Another "will not do business with" site on the internet.
