SB Live Audio HQ problem

Hi all,

I really have no clue as to where to post this so I'll just put it here:

I have a win2k machine with a SB Live Platinum 5.1 w/ Live Drive and two SCSI cdroms, one being a DVD, neither sport a digital cd out plug. The problem is as follows: When I go to audiohq and to the EAX control panel (you know where you can control reverb, chorus, add a voice morpher, pitch shifter) I run into a problem. When I play a cd I used to use the pitch shifter to modify the sound, and then turning the original sound off once I had it modified. Well I tried this time and it did not work at all with cd's when I adjusted the settings, it didn't make a difference (i.e. adjusting the settings didn't work). After playing a bit I enabled digital out and tried again. This time it worked and all the tools (pitch shifter, voice morpher etc. worked). However there's one problem. I can use the pitch shifter and all other tools HOWEVER I can't turn down the original sound. I move the lever to 0 percent volume and the original sound is still playing, this is both WITH digital out enabled and WITHOUT enabled so basically I get both sounds (original and the pitch shifter for example) mixed together which doesn't sound good. Any ideas as to why this happening? This worked fine with my SB Live Value on Win2k and win98se before. This however works fine with mp3's and other files, I just have a problem with audio cd's. Solved!

All I had to do is enable digital audio on both my cdroms in device manager. The only reason I enabled it was because it improves cd audio quality (even if your cdrom doesn't have a digital out plug), according to one of the tips win2k tips from rojakpot I posted a link to in the Tips/Tricks forum. Make sure you check them, those are some excellent tips/tricks!
