check out this awesome band porcupine tree

Hey everybody,

I would like to introduce to you all Porcupine Tree. I have their DVD and all of their CD's, and they are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I will post a Google Video link of their 1+ hour concert that is found on their DVD.

Let me know what you guys think of them.

TIA,
Matt

Great stuff markoman. Not one of my all time faves but I've known about them for a while - always in one of my playlists!

Thanks for the video

FK

EDIT: Speaking of which, have you heard of Spock's Beard? Similar kind of band, and I'm absolutely loving their new (self-titled) album at the moment! Check it out if you can

I have not. Do you have any samples of their music?

I see some Led Zeppelin, Kurt Cobain, Robin Trower and even a little Pink Floyd. All of which I like. I did not listen to the whole recording only about half...but that is who they sound similar to. They defiantly have their own distinct style which is very important. I liked the sometimes hint of jazz. I kept wishing though that they would break out into some serious guitar jams. The music needs to go somewhere...seems to get lost and random sometimes...then comes back to the theme eventually...I guess you could say it has a degree of discontinuity but that is not necessarily a bad thing. I would defiantly buy a CD of their music and may pay to see a concert.

I've listened to them a bit before, but this performance is great. I'll have to go out and get their DVD.

I see what you are saying. If you ever get any of their CD's, look for the "Voyage 34" album. That has some REALLY good guitar solos.

I've heard if Porcupine Tree. They're pretty good - they've got this song called "Trains" that I love - i recommend it.

I like "Trains". Try listening to: "Radioactive Toy", "Blackest Eyes", "Sound of Muzak", "Lazerous", "Halo" "Arriving somewhere but not here", "Voyage 34" and "Russia on Ice"

Bump -- I just got a bunch of Porcupine Tree and am listening to it in heavy rotation. Great stuff. Hopefully bumping this thread will turn some more people on to the band.
