I found a great place for a loan [/sarcasm]

Saw this on TV today... one of those "too good to be true" kinda deals for a loan... get thousands deposited to your bank account by tomorrow, no collateral required blah blah blah....

Well, check out these AWESOME RATES!!!

Gary Coleman was advertising this company. Yeah those rates are legal. I don't think even the Mob charges those rates.

If you look in the state list New York isn't even listed. Those rates would get them locked up for usury.

Right.. there were about half a dozen of so states that these loans are not available in.... most of them are in the 60-99.x% range, then there are a few states that list (cough) as low as (cough) 21% and up to again the 99.x%

If the "loan shark" is in Montana or Delaware they can charge you any interest rate they would like...as those states dont have a limitation on interest. I think most other states cap it at ~22% or something like that. If you pay attention to all of those credit card apps sent to you, look where they come from .

Accidentally selected New Hampshire and for a $2600 loan, the annual percentage rate is a rediculous 99.25%.
And noticed that the underwriter for the loans is a little podunk bank in the middle of the South Dakota flat lands.

That's incredible- should be illegal. Anything over 40% is usury.

In Michigan I believe rates like those will soon be illegal, especially with those PayDay loans...

I went ahead and took out a loan for $5075. At the current low interest rate of only 59.95% and only 84 easy payments, I will have only paid back $21,338.52. Thats a great deal.

Someone should call them just for laughs.

"Hi, how can I rip you off today?"

seen folks like this before. what they do is use loopholes, like a 30 day note with a max interest rate with rollover fees...the fees into the unpaid principle amount and are then subject to the interest rate...that just hammers you into the ground...

Yeah, there's several tv commercials around here that get me wondering what the catch is every time I see them. One case in point, have you ever seen those commercials for those Fathead things? They're the ones that make those lifesize sports figure replicas out of vinyl that you hang on your wall. I noticed one day though that they never gave a PRICE.....they always just said "not available in ANY store; go to Fathead.com today and order yours!" Well, out of curiosity, I went to their site, figuring those things might be, oh I dunno, maybe $50 or so. Wrong! Try $149 EACH! For a piece of vinyl with a color picture of your favorite professional athlete or NASCAR driver's car. I quickly closed that tab after deciding they could keep their overpriced plastic.

Back on subject (wasn't intending to hijack your thread, Dave ), those rates are definitely a little on the high side!
