Thumbs down Tread Lightly at Step-Thermo

It seemed too good to be true...

A computer parts supplier, inexpensive prices, claims of excellent quality control, seemingly knowledgeable/experienced staff.

All this was my impression of STEP-ThermoDynamics.
www.step-thermodynamics.com

Then reality crashed in like a size-12 workboot:

1. I never got the processor I ordered. I was informed that the company is getting out of the end user business, but you can still order stuff from the website, and they'll charge your credit card.

2. Cooling fan assembly didn't work upon receipt.

3. 128meg SDRAM DIMM failed all tests upon arrival.

4. Rest of my order is in some limbo-land called "backordered."

5. What's worse: no replies to my e-mail inquiries. The company's physical address is a post office box. The phone number was connected to a sweet sounding answering machine. The phone number is now disconnected, but you can still visit their website and order stuff!

Visting Step-Thermo for computer parts was as enjoyable as hiking in a minefield!

Make your info available via http://www.resellerratings.com . This site has swayed my purchases more than one time. Sorry you did not have this link before buying their scores don't look real good.

STEP has stopped doing consumer-side sales now since June. Their web site still does sell what they have -- until stock is depleted. But they have no staff what-so-ever to deal with end-user sales.

If you are having a problem with them, contact the Cleveland area BBB and contact your bank/credit card company and challenge the charges that were made.
