Micro$oft Intellipoint 4.01 software

Just received a warning from a friend - do NOT install this software. It's got an installer flaw that not only removes the existing mouse, it also starts deleting other Windows subdirectories. The attached file is his GoBack log.

No, he did not have to reinstall anything. GoBack was able to restore no problem. He always takes a GoBack snapshot before he installs *anything*.

He got the program direct from Microsoft.

Yeah, I checked that once. The computer reformatted the drive and installed Linux.

In my opinion IntellaPoint has always been a problem program and I will not install it. The only Mouse program that is any good is the one supplied by Logitech with their mouse.

True, but you have to run the Intellipoint software if you wanna use the extra buttons on the mouse. I'm using the version that came with the mouse about a year ago, no problems.

Some programs utilize the extra buttons without added software.

Yeah, Intellipoint can be a pain, but 3.2 and earlier sure didn't cause problems like this on installation.
