Boom Horrible MP3 players and USB links ! Arrhh !

Greeting peoples... (bow)

Just looking for some advice please if ya will. I recently pickup up a MP3 player while out in Japan, a ( Toshiba , Mobile Audio Player MEA110AS ). ( I know...I know .. I've read the reviews on how rubbish it is heheh Too late for me now !)

Well... My problem is now I'm back in the UK with it (Using it on Win98) the Software package that came with it will installs fine. It seems to read the player when the USB lead is plugged in... but then it locks the program up after is scans the player! =o(

Soo.... I'm trying to find a copy of "Toshiba Audio Manager" thats geared for the west, I've found out that its on sale in the US too..So the softwares out there (Just a matter of finding it). Here in the UK Toshiba handn't even heard of the player! heheh The US toshiba web site is almost a nightmare to find info on. Soo.... I'm not really sure how to sort this out ... By a new MP3 player ? Err... get a copy of Japanese windows ?

Whats the different between Japanese Windows ... USB divers and Western Windows drivers ? I used the player on a Computer in Japan to upload mp3s , so I know it works.

What to do ?? What to do ???

Thanks for your time ...

this thread probably belongs in periphrials, but what is your current system specs, some hardware like the via k266 chipset is flaky with USB periphials, and are you using first or second edition of windows 98

Well, having a VIA chipset I'd update the VIA 4-in-1 drivers.
When did you last update these drivers ?
Do you also have other USB devices apart from the player ? If so, were there any problems getting them running ?

Yo thanks RJ ...

Well I update those "VIA 4-in-1 drivers" thanks. Didn't know about those... System even feels a bit smoother now !

Anyway as for your question on whether I have any other USB stuff working the answer is "yes". I have a Fuji Finepics digital camrea that runs through USB and what works fine...no problems what so ever.

I keep thinking its something in this " Toshiba Audio Manager " Software. I mean its really geared for Japanese windows. What you think ? You'd think the software ... would be out there somewhere for a download... But I can't find anything ! Nothing on Toshiba US site even though they are bloody selling the thing ! heheh ... and this damn players not on sale here in the UK ...heheh drats !

Thanks ...
