Trivia Tournament policy update poll

Due to a request, I want to put this question forward to the daily trivia participants:

I have the ability to set it so that everyone gets the same questions as opposed to the current system of players get slightly different questions.

The Pro's on making the change: As everyone has the same set of questions, the scores will be more reflective of how everyone did on the exact same set of questions. (ie if one player gets questions on the details of brain surgery so does everyone - as opposed to the brain surgery set for one and another set on the details of counting from 1-10 for another) .

The Con's on making the change: With everyone having the same questions, it opens the door to, I'll be blunt, cheating. One or more cheaters can very quickly take the fun out of the whole game.

As I am a democratic guy (and not some dictatorial, meglomaniacal loonie), I'll abide by the decision of the participants.

I'll leave the poll open until next Monday and I'll apply the majority's decision effective Wednesday June 27.

Id like to see the same questions...in all reality, who would consider cheating on a quiz thats nothing more but fun and games? I doubt the people on this forum would do so, especially for something so trivial.

I didn't think the quiz, or even the rankings for that matter (even though I'm normally at the bottom) were that big of a deal. Does anyone here feel the need to brag about where they rank or argue that the person ahead of them got different or easier questions? This sounds like a non-issue, but I understand the question if you have gotten some flak from people...

Orginally, I thought everybody had the same questions but I think a mixed bag adds to the unpredictablity. After all, they should all be on the same topic roughly.

the way I have it set now is:

System generated topics: everyone gets slightly different questions
Custom topics: everyone gets the same questions.

cut and paste and send them to someone else OR have 2 seperate IDs, one to see the questions and answers and another to answer them for real

Makes no difference to me. I just like the challenge of awakening half dead brain cells!

I think it works well enough as it is. The slightly different questions adds a bit of a random element into things.

While I think every one having the same questions would make it truly an equal test it does open the door for the unscrupulous. I vote leave it the way it is.

I see the benefits of both types of systems but might prefer same questions for a trial at least. Not because I think some people get easier or harder questions, but to make it easier to discuss after the fact.

As for cheating, if it became rampant, the question system could always be reverted to the randomized method.

I have to agree. I wouldn't mind all the same questions, and I know 99% of the regulars here wouldn't cheat, but there's going to be that one loser that will ruin it for everyone.
