Exclamation Free (death of a cell phone) .....

At around 5:30 PM the city got a sudden thunderstorm and I juggled books, folders, and cell phone along with an umbrella at 73rd and 3rd.
Something had to get dropped and the cell phone hit the pavement.
A single word flashed through my head, FREE.

My calling plan has to be renewed in August, it won't be.
I'm going to need a really good reason to buy another ( the iPhone isn't reason enough ) and I can't think of one off hand. In fact I plan on finding something else to do whenever the thought comes up.

It's a pity I can't get a refund but the indenture is over.

I'm a bit confused here. Dead cell phone = you're free from its control and are ending your service?

If you don't get another phone, you can call up your carrier and see if they'll send you a new one or give you a partial rebate for the month.

All true but I don't want a rebate I'm just dropping it from my life.
It was gadget I didn't need and it sucked up an incredible amount of time and money.
Are there legitimate cell phone uses? Sure.
Are there convenient cell phone uses ? Yes (It's a really handy gadget.).
Did I have a cell phone because I needed either? No.
Did I like cell phones? No.
I goofed here, I'm just correcting an expensive mistake,
Lots of people love their phones and they should keep them but, reconsidering, I should never have bought one to begin with.
It's just too bad I had to drop one on a wet street corner to comes to terms with that.
I'll be synching other peoples phones with their computers for years to come but I'll need a really compelling reason before I have one of my own again.
