Stove/rage pigtail question?
Friends moved and gave us a new range. The pigtail is of a different socket design? Can I just swap out the pig tail. ?

do you mean it has 4 plugs instead of 3 or vise versa ? you can get an adaptor as long as they are both 250v .
its just dual phaze . or maybe im unsure what you are talking about . ![]() you might be able to re wire it as well if you know what you are doing . Last edited by Brad the best; 07-03-2007 at 12:49 AM. |

the 3 prong type of connection is outdated, if you have that type, I would recommend going to the newer 4 prong type if for no other reason than for safty.
the 4th connection is only a safty ground that makes sure that any exposed metal of the range would always be grounded, it is the same ground that you find on the 3 prong grounded outlets throughout the house, if your house wireing is up to date. |
