Don't know anyone that has ever received anything, just the confirmation of a friend of a friend knows somebody who did ... You have to accept a ton of offers, some will just fill you with spam, spam, more spam and yet even more spam, others you will be required to subscribe in services... Columbia House for example. All in all, you may have to subscribe to so many services, that you should just go buy yourself a free laptop.

Yeah, I know some people who fall into that. It is certainly deceptive because you have to jump through so many hoops in order to get it. Basically once you've made the company enough money through subscriptions and ad campaigns, they have more than paid for that laptop.

That was just on the news the other night. Most of "those" places are not legit, but apparently some are, but only to the extent of the hoops mentioned above. It's quite a long list of hoops, too. Each "branch" has it's own set of hoops and requirements. One mentioned in the news also required so many sign-ups for stuff, too, and had minimum requirements for so many "silver" services, so many "gold," and so many "platinum." You probably could make enough money to buy a laptop and put money in your pocket if you worked all the time you had involved....

That's actually how a lot of of people have found jobs, too. Some people end up making a load of money because they are advertising affiliates for other companies.

I tried one of those once, as an experiment and I got no where. I had to register to at least 10 websites and sign up for tons of serivces and then I didn't even get anything. The email address I gave them has over twice as much spam as it used to before I "signed up". The best is the adds on the radio for one (iwantmyfreelaptop.com). The ad says something like "Manufacturers have found that it is actually cheaper to give away laptops than to advertise them and sell them." I thought, "Yeah, OK."

Oh sure...a free laptop if you're time is worth nothing. Some people sure have a funny definition of "free".
