PS3 and backward compatibility: 60gb trim or 80gb trim?

So the 60gb trim with the emotion engine hardware in it (by my understanding the same hardware that's inside a PS2) to allow it to be backward compatible with previous generation games is being discontinued. The new 80gb model will use software emulation instead.

I haven't been able to find much info on the matter so far. If one were going to get a PS3 - and backward compatibility were an important issue - which one would really be more desirable?

I have read elsewhere that the existing PS3's can not emulate 100% of the PS2 library as it is. If this is true, than perhaps the software-emulator PS3 would be more desirable. Likely there will be a few bugs with that model as well, however.

I thought I saw an article on this on www.theregister.com

However, that was a while back. They were going to sell this in Korea or something like that. I have not seen anything of any official nature on this subject.
