The floods this week are hitting the south of the country as they hit the North (where I am) last month. I don't think many would argue that floods of this scale are unprecedented, particularly in my part of the country. Thankfully, my house in North Yorkshire, and my Parents' in West Yorkshire, are unaffected, but I don't have to travel too far to see entire families' possessions piled on their front lawns, awaiting inspection from the insurance companies.

Some pictures of Sheffield, just a few miles from here:

There have been a few flash floods around here but fortunately I haven't been affected.
IF, I get the call to go "On Lodge" it will be the fifth time I have worked flooded areas around the UK for British Telecom, seeing peoples possessions piled up in front of their houses waiting for the insurance agent can be quite depressing.

No flash floods where I am... we would welcome the rain... on monday it was 39'C... 52'C with the humidex (opposite of a windchill) or a balmy 126'F.

Luckily where I live has not been affected but the worst hit areas are not that far from me.
