Pre pre-season NFL football talk-- my Chargers....
So, some in the media and elsewhere are high on the Chargers winning in a big way again.
I say, show me. After years in the desert, wandering in the wilderness of NFL mediocrity, the Chargers finally put together a killer team and win the most games of any team last year. And after an admittedly sorry playoff performance, what do they do? They fire the coach! Aaaarrgh! I will never forgive the owner Spanos and that idiotic manager. All those years of rooting for a bottom-dwelling team and then finally, FINALLY two great seasons in a row only to have it chopped off at the knees. I mean, come on, Norv Turner? Coach of last year's hapless Raiders? Uuuuuugh! Sure he was a major player a couple years ago in their offensive coaching. But can the Chargers really stay at the top of their game without the main architect? I have my doubts, many and deep. Give me reasons for hope... if that is possible.

I agree. Marty never won the big one but you gotta figure that eventually he'll get there and win it all and with that talent he could go back or get close for quite a few years straight. I though he'd be bound to win one sooner or later. Then again it could be worse. You could be a Giants fan. With a lame duck coach and a GM who submarined his season through inactivity in the free agent market. Add to that the loss of a borderline hall of fame rusher, the holdout of the Hall of Fame defensive end and the inadequate play of Eli and it's looking like a long season. Hopefully Bill Cowher will still be available when Coughlin gets fired.

Just yesterday I remarked to a coworker that NY got dogged when they got Eli n we got Rivers who seems superior...
And I thought Coughlin should've been fired when the players were publicly complaining about his heavy-handedness 2 seasons ago. He lost control of and the respect of the team. None of which was the case for Marty, damn Spanos! |
