Newegg prices?

I have have been looking at Corsair XMS2 2GB DDR2 800 ram from newegg for a couple of weeks now, and the price soared unbelievably high.

When I first started checking it out, the price was at $113.00 with a $30.00 mail in rebate. It eventually came down to around $105.00 with a $30.00 mail in rebate bringing the total to $75.00 (All over the course of maybe a month).

Well today I check it again, planning on buying it over the weekend and I see this!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145590

$113.00 to $296.00 For 10 minutes I couldn't believe what I was looking at.

Why the massive inflation, what caused it?

I've seen this many times. Think it has to do with supply n demand. When their supply gets low, they jack the price...

You might go here and PM the NewEgg support guys. Send em a link to your thread...

Supply and demand plus one more factor... volitility of RAM prices. I remember at one time when RAM hit an all time low, then started skyrocketing... at the warehouse I was working in, we were getting HOURLY updates on the price increases.

I wonder if their software defaults to some "Suggested Reatil Price" when the inventory drops to a certain point...

Ooh, it is down. That was ridiculous though. I thought for sure it would be awhile before the price came down again, but it's even a dollar less than before.
