The end of the internet in sight?

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

well, not really.

IPv4 is limited but with IPv6 on the horizon and supported by most major manufacturers of IT gear (or is, at worst, a quick upgrade), as well as many companies, as well as the Feds and state governments, are mandating that their IT purchases are 100% compliant with v6 this is not an apocalyptic scenario.

So this is not the end of the world.

I thought this post was going to be about how Elton John wants to shut down the internet. He said that it is destroying the music industry and not allowing people to go out and be creative. He wants the internet shut down for about 5 years.

There are way too many other industries and large companies that rely solely on the internet...they will do as much as possible to make sure it doesn't go anywhere.

I didn't mean to hijack your thread. So back on your topic. Interesting post about the IPv4. Never really thought about that. Good read.

I don't think most of todays musicians are taking the time to learn their craft....that takes time and lots of hard work. Elton certainly learned his craft and it shows in his music. I cannot think of any recent musician who has accomplished more than him. Nor are there any relatively new groups that are the equivalent to The Beetles, The Stones, The Who or U-2. It's not even close.

Obviously, shutting down the internet for the sake of music is not an option. We will just have to try to adjust to new music that will never be of the same quality.

Teh internetz 15 haxxored.

Really though, I can't under...y'know what, I'm just gonna end up ranting about business practices of non-forward thinking people, and we don't wanna go there.

On a somewhat related note, I think it's funny that Elton wanted to close down the internet for reasons already stated. The internet is not causing people to stop being creative. A person's creativity is really in their own hands, and the presence of an info superhighway more serves to stimulate that creativity rather than suppress it. Is the internet hurting the music industry? Yeah, I guess certain aspects of it are hurtful (Limewire, etc). But really, calling it a creativity block...I just can't get there.
