A special request

I know I don't get around to posting here too often, but I'm always stopping by to read the mail (I can't help it, there's a great group of people here, just wish I had more hours in the day). I'm normally not one to ask anyone for assistance, but those of you who believe in prayer, if it's not to much to ask, send one up there on behalf of myself and a friend. I could sure use the help. Thank you all in advance.

Joe

Very apropos, actually.

Thanks for the well wishes all. I am just looking for guidance right now. Sort of between a rock and a hard place in a complicated mess, the likes of which I've never faced or thought I ever would.

Is there another person who you can talk to about this? One whose opinions/expertise you trust and one who would keep what you speak of in absolute confidence? Is there a religious deacon or a perhaps a therapist you could talk to? There must be somebody. It always helps to be able to talk to someone...even if they are not necessarily an expert. I think it always helps to have someone you can talk to. It does not necessarily help sometimes but at the very least it can make you feel better about a bad situation. Reach out to someone..don't keep it all inside.

I haven't. Just trying to garner as many prayers in my corner as I can through my online connections. Having not stepped foot inside a church in many, MANY years, I found myself there the other day (I'm, at least technically, still a Catholic).

Last time I got stuck between a rock and a hard place, I found pharmaceuticals to be very helpful.

That only masks the problem and can lead to addiction.

GLC, I wasn't being flip. Sometimes the stress of a situation you can't quickly extricate yourself from can be devastating. There is nothing wrong with seeing a physician and having something prescribed to get you through the tough time *short term*. That's what I'm talking about.

The situation is the problem. There is nothing to be "masked," just endured. I once thought myself invincable and able to endure anything. I was wrong and anyone who thinks they can endure any calamity is likely wrong (or just hasn't met a big enough calamity).

Very shortly after the situation ended, I stopped the medication. There was no danger of addiction for me, certainly not with that particular drug. There was no altered consciousness and there were some unpleasant side effects.

It got me through a tough time.

I always went to music rather than drugs...

Seemed to always work for me...

I have had my fair share of ups and downs as do many people...some of us deal with deep depressions on a regular basis and no what it takes to whip them without turning to a co-dependant....

I think it's more about will-power and know tomorro maybe a brighter day...wallowing in sorrow is the worst you can do...chin up and move on...

A older person once told me..."Dont stress over things you have no control over!" And if you think about it...you really dont have any control over much of anything...it's all about lifes checks and balances...

I mean if you get fired and lose your home you really have no control over that...it's just fate...sucks I know but what will come will always be better...and what dont kill you only makes you stronger...

I went thru something close to this a couple of years ago...lost almost everything when some job I done did not pay....on top of that I moved in the middle...argh..

But always remember nomatter how bad you think you have it someone else always has it worse...

if you dont think so....just take a walk thru a childrens hospitol sometime...that will bring tears pretty quick...

Drugs are a relief for certain people only. If you don't understand clinical depression you cannot really comment about it. My wife, and several others I know take medication for clinical depression and it works for them quite well. I'm not saying this is the route that Redfallon should take as I don't know the situation, nor am I a doctor.

I understood what you meant, XenaWP and it's Redfallon's choice if that avenue is pursued with his health care professional. It would not be my choice of direction, but as HAL mentions, it can be a viable option for some. Hopefully all the spiritual help will be enough...

We're still with you, Redfallon

Thanks for the well wishes. Drugs won't help in this situation. Mine is a moral dilemma. I am trying to decide how to best deal with a situation without compromising my convictions and at the same time, not complicate the situation. I suppose things will work out as best they can.
