I want to be like you 1,000+ posters

By that I don't mean just get 1,000+ posts. Ive noticed in almost every thread, everyone tries to help out the original poster as much as possible. The "smaller" posters, usually reply posting their knowledge and recommendations, and then the "big" posters (such as glc, lefty ace, cricket, panama red, alaron, sorryif i didn't put you, these are theones i see alot and could name off the top of my head) and then you guys go in and have even broader knowledge and in return help the original poster, and the other posters out by giving them more information.

I would like to eventually learn alot about computers, and be like you guys. Right now, I think I know a decent ammount about PC's, just from reading here, building and tinkering with them. So, I guess the purpose of this thread was to give major thanks to those members who are always on here and always helping people out.

I will be trying to post on things that I know even the slightest bit about, so I can learnmore from the other members. So, please if I make a post/reply, and my post wasn't correct, or isn't broad enough, or there is more info to add, please let me know. I want to learn everything I can.

Thanks!

Chaz =)

Firstly, I'm honored u put me in a list with GLC, cricket, and panama red.
I learned everything I know from this forum. No joke. I started out coming here with problems (don't we all :-) then I decided to build a computer, so was here for lots of advice. Then more problems. By the time I'd broken my Dell (and fixed it with PCMECH's help) and built, broken, fixed, and tweaked my own build (Again with the help of all the great ppl here) I found I could answer many of the questions/problems that newer people posted. Gradually, by spending too much time here :-) I've absorbed some of the knowledge of people like GLC, Cricket, Alaron, Freakitchen, panama, kram, etc etc, and figure I might as well pass some of it along...

You'll get there. Just look at how long I have been around this forum already. So long in fact that I think I was in the first 100 members to register here (now I feel ancient ). As long as you keep reading, learning, and contributing, you'll be up to 1000+ posts in no time. Just remember, it's quality, not quantity, that really counts here.

Floppyman stated it well - it's quality, not quantity. Use your interest and keep learning - there's never an end to that.

Deffinitely. The advice here is solid, which is the only way a site of this type can be at all successful and more importantly, useful.

I remember when Flopster was a moderator...way back when. I think he said he was about 15 or 16 years old at the time...mature beyond his years.

1999 was a popular year...

Did anyone here ever post at NoWonder.com or 32bit.com way back when?

Boy, that that seems like a long time ago now, doesn't it? The only that has stayed constant in my life since then has been change.

Actually, come to think of it now, I may have been a moderator on these forums before glc even arrived here....

Heck I've been here about 6yrs and still don't know as much as those who do this kind of thing for a living.. Me I only built a hand full of pc's and always come here for help.. If I try to help out someone and give them the wrong info and someone else come in and gives them the right information that is how I have learned by my own mistakes...

You really shouldn't give up so easily...it's good that you want to help others but when you do you should try to do is verify what you think the answer is by Googling it just to be sure you are giving the correct information to the person seeking help. I Google my answers before I post them when I'm not sure if I'm right or not.

I googled for instructions on computer building back in 2003 and found this site after some surfing. I got walked through putting together my rig and because of the informative, quick responses have remained here ever since. Great site and community with, like others have previously stated, an enormous wealth of technical knowledge.

Everyone is courteous in posting, and all adhere to the pcmech's emphasis on maintaining a family friendly forum. You don't find too many of those kinds of forums remaining on the internet. It's just good all around.

Wait, I thought bailey used to ride dinosaurs back in the day...was that before or after he invented dirt?

I've been googling for answers for years. It all comes down to knowing how to work with keywords and phrases.
