I'd answer but it's not a trick question for me.

I have seen them growing in Hawaii and have seen plenty of pictures of how they grow. What kind of surprises me is that how they grow would be considered a trick question. I mean, doesn't everyone know that Sponge Bob Square Pants lives in a Pineapple under the sea? They must come from the ocean.

Proof:
Captain: Are you ready kids

Kids: Aye Aye Captain.

Captain: I can't hear you.

Kids: Aye Aye Captain!

Captain: OHHHHHHH

Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?

Kids: SpongeBob SquarePants!

Captain: Absorbant and yellow and porous is he!

Kids: SpongeBob SquarePants!

Captain: If nautical nonsense be something you wish!

Kids: SpongeBob SquarePants!

Captain: Then drop on the deck and flop like a fish!

Kids: SpongeBob SquarePants!

Captain: Ready?

Captain and Kids: SpongeBob SquarePants, SpongeBob SquarePants,
SpongeBob SquarePants!

Captain: SpongeBob SquarePaaaaannttss!!!

Captain: HA HA HA HA !!!!

Spongebob: (Whistle)

lol. It's not like I know that song by heart too.

Seriously, me and my wife (hehe it's still strange to say that) both thought that pineapples grow from trees. I thought that it grew from the green part down or something. Then we both saw a pineapple farm and were educated.

On the trip, we did see a small tree with a large pineapple-sized and shaped fruit hanging from the center.

I saw them growing in Nigeria a few years back, I didn't believe it was a Pineapple at first.

Don't they have these (and other tropical fruits) in that one ride at Disney world? I think that's where I knew the answer from...

Only reason I knew was when I was young I remember one of the recycling tips we were told was to replant the tops and a new pineapple would grow... never tried that one though
