Surface Computing - The Future

Hope this hasn't been posted before, but this is pretty amazing. It is one heck of a fancy coffee table for sure, who needs a coffee table book? It is pretty neat when they move a picture from a camera to a cell phone just by dragging it across the table, very cool.

This is from Popular Mechanic:

I have seen it on TV a few times. It's real cool looking and throwing pictures of things around looks real neat but I don't see any real practical application for it.

Is it another case of cool technology looking for a practical application?

if anything, it just makes me want to get one of those digital picture frames where you upload the pictures.

wonder if anyone here will be trying to build one of those computer tables in a few years

I too heard about this, but haven't seen the video. I'm a bit excited about this techology and hope that it takes off unlike a few past MS "revolutions".

Not to rain on the surface computing parade (I think it's got some cool applications too) but here's a pretty funny spoof of that ad: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...arch&plindex=4
