Just bought an A+ book

Yeah, by Mike Meyers. Its supposed to teach you everything on the CompTIA A+ test. I payed $20 for it, comes with 4 practice tests, and is almost 700pages long. there was another one, really nice TONS of info, but 60 bucks, and i wasn't about to pay 60 bucks for a book. Anyone read any of these books? How are they?

Mike Meyer's AIO A+ Guide is fairly comprehensive - it is meant to prepare you for the CompTIA A+ Exam. Some of the sections, especially the OS sections, are a bit lacking, but that's what practice tests are for. If you are planning to take the exam itself, you may need to purchase the latest edition - CompTIA made some major changes on its exams last year.

So I have read about 200 pages in this book, and I feel I have learned alot more than I already knew. I've learned alot more about motherboards and CPU's, and the parts of them, how they work and why you need what. I still have alot to read in this book, and ALOT to learn, but I think It has helped me alot alreayd, and I think the quality of my posts have improved a bit, and will continue to improve as i expand my computer knowledge.

That's the first AIO A+ book I got too, although mine's a few years older than yours. I read most of the hardware stuff and got sidetracked doing something else....never went back and read the rest of it. I thought the other day that I needed to finish that sometime, but about all that's left is the software part of it and it's outdated by now anyway (I think mine only goes up through Win Me or maybe 2000).

Yeah I just looked a bit forward in mine and I saw some Vista Screenshots in mine. Mine is edition 3, so yours might be 1 or 2. Yeah i was really tired when I read the part about RAM, so I need to re read that. Gunna go read about harddrives now.

the reason i'm asking, the desktop support and helpdesk positions all require an A+, none mention desktop support tech certifications.
