Question Thousand Trails

I known this is out in left field for this forum, but here goes.

Has any one had any dealings with the thousand trails camping/timeshare outfit?

Background: we had to move my wifes mother into a nursing home do to Dementia/Alzheimers
and it turns out she had signed up with T/T at some point.

Now they want us to keep paying the several hundred dollars a year for membership, suposedly forver since they say it's a lifetime membership, and that we cant terminate.

is this scam even legal?? and has any one been able to cancel?

that doesn't sound legal.

i would ask to see what contract was signed stating that it was a lifetime commitment.

edit: might want to see if you can find anything usefull here: http://www.bbb.org/

Agreed....the burden of proof is upon them to prove that such a contract even exists. Ask to see the original. Something sounds fishy about any sort of claim about a lifetime contract.

Since you wife's mother is no longer in her right mind, I would seek advise from a lawyer.. If you did not sign up for this Time share, than by no means should you or your wife be legally binded to the contract, since you did not sign one, your mother inlaw did.. Unless you seek advise from an attorney who deals with this particular issue, then they will continue to try and have you and your wife pay the fee for it.. Best wishes to you and your family..
