Some Nerve

Went to Hollywood video today to get a few movies, and found out I had a past due balance of $60.. I said to the guy for what? Come to find out someone other then me as rang up a huge bill renting the TV series ER. ER of all things, I haven't watched that show since the mid 90's. My wife doesn't use my card nor does she rent movies without me present..The guy at the store did say it could have been an employee using my membership for personal use. I told him I bet, because I don't rent TV series that I can watch for free...tomorrow I will be making a stop back at Hollywood to talk with the manager, and let me tell you it won't be pleasant.. Because one thing is for sure I won't be paying for something I did not rent...

Was probably him. That sounds like a confession right there to me.

But seriously, I hope they don't give you a hard time. Good luck.

If you flip out enough, they'll give you a bunch of store credit.

But if you flip out too much, they'll just write off the "error" ... handled with grace and tact, one can gain much more.

i think you just need the proper balance of "flipping out" and being calm.

always be curtious and tactful, but get your point across and let them know that you're not a pushover. that seems to usually work.

I would simply said "I didn't rent those and you would make more $$$ if you keep me happy than unhappy".

Never flip out...people will write you off a a nut job and do everything they can to get you out of their store, including calling the police. The bottom line is if you behave this way will probably not get what you want.

Remain calm and put the burden of proof on them. Do they have any of the original documents with your signature on them? If you still cannot come to some sort of equitable agreement then threaten to take them to small claims court. Business do not want to have to waste their time in small claims over such a relatively small amount of money. If they still refuse then take them to small claims...its the principle of the matter and not so much the money.

Be careful about them damaging your credit by sending their claim out to a collection agency. Take care of the matter before they do this.

I agree with David. The Hollywood I've rented at requires a signature and an ID every time I rent.

Well I got it all fixed.. What it was, is the ER stands for early return NOT ER like the series.. The manager said the employee who said that was new and gave me the wrong information.. The late fees accured, because some of the movies, I was returning I returned by accident to block buster video at the same time I was returning some of their moves I rented as well.. The manager is going to write off 30 of the balance, and I have to pay the rest no big deal..
