Some very good news

Hi guys,

I'm just nearing the end of my summer break over here in the UK and after a long battle centered around the imcompetance of a secondary school that I went to last year, I now have my well deserved place at the University of Kent at Canterbury, doing a four-year BSc degree in Computer Science with a Year in Industry! http://www.kent.ac.uk

To celebrate, I treated myself to a new laptop and backpack specifically for University and am now in the process of sorting out finances for the payment of tuition fees. My mum went crazy (seriously, I've never seen her act like that before!) and my boyfriend was ecstatic. So it's been a very good ending to a seemingly dull-ish holiday. It's good to be truely happy again after so long.

Congrats. The UK needs more geeks - especially those that can actually apply the knowledge they've gleaned.

And yeah, I remember how expensive uni is. My biggest expense was getting a P1 based PC.

well done that man.

I know someone who went to that exact Uni, to do that exact subject! Was a few years ago now.

Gizmo the Girl Geek Gains Admission! Run the banners up the poles! Congrats to ya. Now it's up to you to make the most of this opportunity. I bet you'll appreciate it more than those who skated in on mommy or daddy's name/bucks. You deserve to feel happy!

That's great news Gizmo! Don't have much to add to PR's comments - it sounds like you want this so above all, enjoy the experience.
