People on Strike

This by no means is a rant on the current strike and please do not let it go there.

I was curious to know if someone were to go on strike, do they still receive some sort of income?

Does the Union pay some of there wages or are they not getting paid at all?

It depends on the union. Most unions have some kind of strike compensation.

That compensation can have a wide range as well... I've known union staff to receive as little as $10 per day for walking the line when on the other end of the field, when I did steel work, one of the major steel suppliers (I think it was Algoma, but don't quote me on that as it's been a long time) threatened with a strike and it was noted that they had a large enough strike fund to pay their members full wages for approximately 10 years.
