Laptop Accident Insurance

My wife was given a laptop for Xmas from her employer. And we gave it to our son for Xmas as a gift and he has already dropped it. The LCD is now cracked. And we cant afford a new screen at around $300.00. Can I purchase an HP Accidental Protection plan now and then have it replaced under the plan? Its only $109 for a year.

Uh.....Purchasing insurance AFter the accident has happened. Well, I really think it is depend on the representative you are speaking to and the length of the time you purchased the lap to its death. I would say more depend on the representative.

it's insurance, not a repair plan.

You MIGHT get away with it, but you'd also be the reason for increasing insurance rates.

What is Insurance Fraud?

'Fraud occurs when someone knowingly lies to obtain some benefit or advantage to which they are not otherwise entitled or someone knowingly denies some benefit that is due and to which someone is entitled. Depending on the specific issues involved, an alleged wrongful act may be handled as an administrative action by the Department or the Fraud Division may handle it as a criminal matter."

From HP's Site
Quote:
One warranty upgrade per product. Available only in the United States. Hardware must be in original working condition. Warranty upgrade does not cover preexisting damage.
Big suprise. HP doesn't warrant a laptop that is already broken.

I guess you're son's learned a lesson - treat property with respect.

Think about the OTHER lesson you will teach your son if you do it and get away with it... or do it and do not get away with it.

Which is the more expensive thing??
