Sprint, Sprint, Spring, Rant

O my gosh, just finished spending 3hrs 3min on the phone with Sprint.. Yesterday we upgrade my two girls and my phone, we were all do for upgrades so we did. Well today I went to add on the Internet for the their phones, well for some reason the rep on the phone was have a hard time. Every time she tried to add the Internet plus a few other she would get kicked out of the system.. She talked to her supervisor who told here to talk to tech support, who told her to talk to finance, who told her to talked to credit and collection.. Well after her being hung up on at least twice, she finally got no where.. She tells me first it said we owed on both of our accounts ( 2 accounts x2 phones on each ). I told her no the accounts were paid in full, she said her system said different, but at the same time her system was saying no balance confusion or what.. She was upset that everything she did you wasn't able to upgrade our service to a different plan that included the Internet. She also got to know what it is like to deal with her own co- workers. So in the end we ended up with 700 shared minutes for $69.99 plus 400 minutes on each phone for each account not shared free for two yrs, plus unlimited text on each phone for free which is usually $15 per line, that is why I usually don't have it on mine or the wife's, but no Internet.. So tomorrow the rep said she will pick up where she left off, because she feels it is their system giving the issues.. She told me that people are having issues just trying to long into their accounts, every since the finally finished the merger with Nextel.. Well we will see what happens tomorrow

Wow.

I actually got a Nextel Phone after they merged and it took them a few tries just to get my ssn right. Somehow they had the wrong one, and It took over a month to fix it.

At least you got something for free since they can't seem to get their act right.

Ya, but lets hope we can get the internet fixed.. And what is even worse, is every time I try to log into mime or my wifes account it tells me were not using the correct password or username.. One minute it lets you in the next time you can't You would figure with all this new tech, they would not have the kind of issues they have today...

That's better than the deal my provider wanted to give me.... the story goes my daughter lost her phone in January... so we called our provider and asked, are we at a point in our contract where we can upgrade, specifically, could we renew the contract and get the three year contract pricing on the phones (starting at $0)... they said yes and prompted us to go to a mall kiosk where they can set us up.

Well, off to the mall and we talk to a nice young girl who I'm sure we drove nuts as we had her drag out every phone on display so we could check them out... finally deciding on upgrades that would cost each of us $80 WITHOUT an activation fee.... well, she hops on the computer to make her sale (commission based) and drops the bomb, we don't qualify until September. She calls the rep that we spoke to on the phone where she outright LIES and said she never told us that (pulling the call stated otherwise).

Well, here it is March, I'm sick of waiting for the supervisor callbacks (two attempts during my work hours when I specified to call in the evening)... I have the day off so I spend 40 minutes on hold waiting. The rep comes back to me for a third time and says, may I have the supervisor call you back. I said no, I've been waiting for two months, I'll hold... she tells me that she is unable to take more calls this way... I tell her.. first of all, that is SaskTel's problem, not mine and that I myself work in a call center, give me a break, you don't want to take more calls, you want to get rid of this one ASAP and you can do so by getting me the supervisor.

Fine.. I finally get the supervisor and this dork offers me this deal (remember, I was to get three phones totalling $240)... He would renew my contract for three years (same as before) but give me the two year contract pricing on the phones ($50 more each), PLUS, I get to pay the activation fee for each phone... that's a heck of a deal, instead of paying $240, he's offering to take $465 cash from me.

Well, I don't think so... I'm going to run out the remainder of our contract and go back to Rogers (10 years with them without a problem)... then run out my security contract and go back to ADT, then move my phone service over to my cable company... the way they were talking, they should go bankrupt in about a week as I'm the only one keeping them afloat.

[/end rant for now]

LOL Dave, we don't have a land line phone, because if you take the normal charge without long distance $13 and add in all the taxes, it would cost us around $40. Besides my inlaws have their phone including with their tv, and internet and have had nothing but issues.. Plus time warner cable our provider sucks lately at service.. Since moving to our new apartment it seems our cable is down more than it is up.. If if is not one tv (out of 4) it is another..

I'm with sprint... and I have to say I've had pretty good service until I traveled to Philadelphia with the family (we're from South Dakota). We had the nationwide long distance plan, and the rep told us "You can call to or from anywhere in the continental US." Good, we thought... we're covered in Philly.

Nope.

End of the month comes, and we have a $700 bill for "traveling minutes." Notice that they aren't roaming. We were in Philly and had no visual indication on our phones that we were out of our coverage area, as we were technically on a Sprint tower. The worst part was that many of the minutes were me talking to either my dad or brother, so we got charged double for those calls!

Also, the sprint rep "offered" to knock off $50 if we signed up for a 2 year agreement (forfeiting our phone upgrade option at 2 years).

All in all, it was our fault for not reading our contract, but it still left a sour taste.

I've had Sprint for almost 10 years now - if I've learned anything in dealing with them it is that when calling, I call between 12am and 2am. I know that sounds crazy - but that's when the Florida call center is the only call center that is open and for whatever reason, the CSRs at that call center know their stuff.

I had a similazr experience with Verizon years ago. I was on a base, and for some reasom, some calls were included, and then some calls were roaming, even from the same place. I always checked my phone for the Roaming signal on it, but it never showed up. End of the month comes, and I have like a $500 phone bill. I call them up, and they say I was roaming. I tell them that my phone didn't show that. They end up crediting me the bill. Next month, same exact thing. Call up, and same thing. They actually tried to tell me that I don't know when my phone is roaming. I told them nicely that I know that a "R" looks like. I got credit again, then ended my service.

Well the rep at sprint who was going to call me back and indeed she did Now we have the internet on each phone for only $5 a month (normally $15-30)depending on you plan, we also got free picture mail as well which I believe is $10 a month. Add that to the free unlimited text message and the 400 extra free minutes to each phone, and I figured we are saving around $100 each month on each account.. Now this is for no less than they 2yrs we signed and or as long as we have a sprint account..

Boy with all the head aches we had with sprint over the yrs, I finally have a reason to stay

How many accounts do you have? I just switched to Sprint, and I'm getting 500 minutes plus free unlimited internet/data, texting, picture messaging, mobile-to-mobile, and roaming on Verizon, plus 7pm nights/weekends, for $30 per month. I think for 1250 minutes it goes up to $50 per month. Only problem is you can't do a family plan on this version of Sprint service, hence why I didn't recommend it originally...

Sounds like a Sprint SERO plan (Sprint Employee Referral Option). I have a number of friends and associates that have that here around MSU but I can't get it in Grand Rapids because Grand Rapids is the one and only major market owned by iPCS who is a Sprint affiliate.

It is SERO. One thing you can do to get it if you're not in a market where it's offered is to sign up using an address in a market where it is. You can then change your address and port your number over.

I have two accounts with two phones on each.. Your getting a good deal as well.. I believe plans differ from place to place.. Around here they weren't offering the free internet/data,picture mail around here, so that is why I ended up getting what I got, because of all the bs they but me through..
