need Outlook help, please
I'm currently using Win98 and Outlook Express. I'm about to upgrade to WinXP and OfficeXP. I am going to reformat my hard drive and get a new, clean XP installation. I don't have the benefit of a zip drive or similar, but I have a great deal of email to save and a folders heirarchy that I don't want to have to recreate. It's definitely not going to fit on a floppy. Please...what's the best way to get everything now in Outlook Express into Outlook after I format? My thought is to email it to a hotmail account and then download it after I upgrade. If I do that...how do I export and/or compact this all before I do it. I haven't found much that's useful in the help files. Thanks in advance!

You could use Winzip to make your structure into a Zip file spanned onto multiple floppies.

open OE .. go to TOOLS > OPTIONS > Maintenance
Click on STORE FOLDER... Note down the directory of your store folder (it is usually in one of the Identities directories which is a pain to get to, so I'd suggest you click Change and move it to a more convenient location like C:\MAIL) Then finish the moving of the storage directory (by restarting OE when prompted) All you then need do is zip up that particular directory (C:\MAIL) and all its contents. |
