I knew Norton and Microsoft had become thick as thieves but I decided to get my PIII 500 256 meg ready for XP.
I installed SystemWorks 2002 and wound up with the missing dll deal. Re: N32userl.dll I followed your(NORTON tech support) extract instructions N32userl.dll and wound up with poproxy.exe file is linked to missing export n32userl.dll:_getpasskeycookie@4 at startup neato so I uninstalled 2002 and rebooted and reinstalled 2002 I still get this message at startup poproxy.exe file is linked to missing export n32userl.dll:_getpasskeycookie@4 I've had no, nada, zero problems with your products till you jumped in bed with Microsoft. Real subtle. XP won't work with old versions of SystemWorks so if you buy XP and SystemWorks 2002 we'll give you an extra 20 dollars off SystemWorks 2002. Microsoft builds an OS that is not compatible with current software of the largest seller of Utility/Security in the world? Crooks. |

The same Norton Systemworks that probably did work in Win2000?
I wonder how much Symantec had to pay Microsoft to make it 'not' work .Why use this stuff from Symantec anyways? The virus scan I suppose is ok, but the firewall doesn't work as well as the free Zone Alarm alternative, and the other stuff can easily be done by the user manually, some of the other stuff is flat out useless (crash guard causes crashes, etc.). |

I believe that is very shrewd targetting of the user demographic. Considering that most people who use stuff on System(Not)works do so without knowing what they are getting into .. they would also spend for something to iron out compatibility issues.
