I feel sorry for those kids when they reach high school or (if they can get in) college where grades matter. No one will give you a degree or job based on you're "own rate" of "mastering the skills."Quote:

lol. oh yeah, that makes sense: If you can't get the student scores up, then just eliminate the score system all together.

Senerio:
"Excuse me, what is your GPA?" - "Well, I don't know but I know what I'm supposed to." "Okay...what grade are you in?" - Well, I don't know that either." I would think this would have to be adapted by a broader system (which I doubt) if it is to work.

Here's something encouraging:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...-2001Nov5.html Hopefully it will lead to more for-profit schooling. That's a market ripe for development, IMHO. |

As i am a person from near that community i can tell you that the niagra falls region isnt know for its great thinkers, more its basketball team. Seems odd that they would want to eliminate grades considering they just built a brand new school taking 2 semi-large districts and combining them into one huge district. This new supper school is most definetly state of the art. Brand new computers in every classroom and a whole list of other goodies that other schools are drooling to get their hands on. They even had enough money to give every person in the school a laptop computer. That is what i call crazy that they would allow kids to have school issued laptops. They really have lost their minds up their, first love canal, and now this, i bet the chemical dump near their got in the water supply.

It's a thinly veiled attempt at making sure little Johnny's ego isn't bruised. Some experiment at games with no scores; that way no one loses and feels bad. Trouble is, you have to learn how to lose in order to win, to reach for an "A" while making a "C".
Any wonder all the smart folks reside in Asia, where excellence is demanded? They also have the best geeks, which fits hand in glove.

It is one thing to score 100% on a written driving test and another to drive a car.
