Digital Cigars for everyone!

Have one on me! I became a grandfather today for the first time. My son didn't do things in the order I recommended but I'm sure the end result will be fine. He is engaged to married and they have set a date for Halloween '09, a year from now. Earlier this year they informed us that she was pregnant. The baby was due in mid-December but the mom has been suffering with kidney stones for the last couple months. They can't do anything until after the baby is born so she's been in a lot of pain. A week ago this past Monday she went to the Emergency room at the hospital because the pain was so intense. The pain meds they gave her caused severe vomiting and she was unable to keep any food down for several days now. The baby's vitals remained fine throughout this ordeal but mom was becoming progressively weaker. Yesterday she had a blood test and it showed preeclampsia had developed. That can be very harmful to the baby so they opted to induce labor and introduce the little guy to the world a bit early. When the preeclampsia showed higher numbers this morning and she wasn't progressing with any contractions, the doctors chose to do a C-section and bring him out. The little (and I do mean little) guy is only 32 weeks developed but he's doing great. He weighed a whopping 4lbs 3 ozs. He'll remain in the neo-natal icu for the next couple weeks or until he develops natural feeding skills. Mom is doing well and eating again and the new dad is beaming. Oh yeah, grandpa and grandma are smilin' a bit too.

Congrats Panama Red!

Glad to hear your Grandson and family are doing well.

On another note...I just noticed that my user name and RevCLB have green lettering. What does that signify?

Congrats PR!!! -- I had to look up "preeclampsia" and it sure doesn't sound pleasant at all. Hopefully she's recovering OK. Glad the "little guy" is doing good. I bet your chest is sticking out by a mile, eh?!! Oh, and thanks for the cigar - surprisingly smooth

They'll be coming. Right now, the only pics I have are of the baby hooked up to all the tubes and paraphenalia in the nicu. My daughter has a few and once they get him home we'll have plenty I'm sure.
