could use some good MP3 advice

I have just decided to "get into" downloading music and burning my own CDs. I'd like to find the best sites for downloads, as well as the best software for cataloging my collection and burning the disks. I'm not opposed to paying a buck or two for a song. (i.e. I'm not exclusively looking for the free stuff!) Anybody have any good advice for a rookie in this area??? Thanks in advance...

You can still download all the music you want from the newsgroups, especially the pay uncensored groups, like usenet-access.com. They present you with hundreds of new songs daily. After a while you run out of stuff you like, especially if you have cable or DSL. Even with 56k dial-up I still can get 50-60 per night if I want. You will need a newsreader like Agent (my personal favorite) from Forte. The have a free version called freeagent.

Hey Carl (or anyone else) - I've got a newbie question. When I get to the newgroup messages that appear to have MP3's, all I see in the viewer is giberish. How can I download the MP3's?

Troy - what newsreader software are you using? These are binaries which are handled like attachments, just save them, don't try to view them.

My personal recommendation is not to mess with Outhouse Express and get Free Agent.
