Mark of a true caring community

I've only been apart of this forum/community for a few weeks - my goal was to get an answer to this thread: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...threadid=20006

The one person that participates in this forum that could answer my question did not -- and I wanted to know why. I had seen for a few weeks that Audiyoda was willing to help anyone. Well now Audiyoda needs your help.

It seems that three weeks ago, Audiyoda - or Craig, came down with a case of hte flu, or so he thought. Well now he's in the hospital and getting worse. Craig's wife Robin was kind enough to take my question to Craig yesturday and hee was able to give me an answer -- and my studio's new non-linear video suite is up and running. I had noticed that Robin's e-mail had come from the same Ameritech mail server as mine, and it ends up that I live not 10 miles from Craig and his wife. Well I had a chance to stop by the hospital last night to meet Craig -- he is genuinely one of the nicest and most giving men I've had the pleasure of meeting. From his hospital bed he cares more that his wife is comfortable and being taken are of regardless of his condition. This guy has lost over 30 pounds within the last three weeks and the doctors just cannot figure out what is wrong with him -- and he still worries more about others than himself.

Before I left last night, I asked him if there was anything I could do -- he asked me to relay a message to all of you:

Quote:
Hello everyone. Sorry I've not been around, but I've been kinda sick. I don't know when I'll get back home and back on-line, but I can't tell you how much I miss surfing the web. Amazing that for all the technology in this hospital, their phones are the old hard-wired type - no phone jack to speak of. Oh well...don't worry about me, I'll be fine - hell, I needed to lose the weight. Regardless of what the doctor's think, I'm feeling better - I think it had something to do with MSU kickin' U/M around for four quarters. You should have seen the look on the nurses faces when they tried to tell me it was time for me to get some rest and turn off the TV - I just about exploded.

Anyway, everyone take care - I'll be back before you know it.

-Craig
All I can say is if you pray, please do - Craig needs your prayers. The doctors really have no idea what is wrong with him. You can e-mail him at cjcarlen@ameritech.net with any thoughts or words of encouragment - his wife has been checking his e-mail. I asked the hospital about cards and such but they have had numerous letters and packages that have been anthrax hoaxs' so they are not delivering any letters or packages right now and asking people to send them to family to be brought in for the person. I asked Robin if that was okay but she would rather just print out e-mail from everyone - fit's Craig's personality.

Well maybe instead of filling his mailbox up, video_pro, why don't you send this link to his wife and just have everyone leave a message for him here.

Craig, you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I suppose either would work equally well. I just thought printing individual e-mails would be simpler.

audiyoda, hurry and get well. Keep your vitals strong, mind the nurses, eat the great hospital food, and remember your pcmech family is pulling for you.

This site has always been my escape from reality; my departure from the problems of life. Ironically, in my escape, I have discovered a better definition of life and found I never left it in the first place. In a world where data is transmitted over incomprehensible distances at equally incomprehensible speeds by series of electrical impulses and waves, it becomes all too easy to forget that in each bit passed through the network lies a contribution of a unique individual. In each byte, an expression. In every stream, a voice. The network will always exist, yet, its existence is trivial without data. Likewise, the network lives in a state of constant flux; moving, expanding, connecting, changing. And while a network may operate with a downed switch by mapping around it, it can never be the same without data - without people. I leave this message for all; knowing it will be read, expecting its words to be forgotten, but hoping that its meaning will be picked up and carried.

May each day bring new hope, now and forever.

Respectfully,

Demosthenes

Look what the parasite dragged in....

Hey everyone --

Damn, I really don't know what to say. It's rare that I am speechless, but I truly am. I'm not out of the woods yet -- just in a different hospital. The doctors in Lansing gave up so they sent me to Spectrum in Grand Rapids. It took the doctors here 2 hours to find a very unique little parasite that's been using my body as a home for the past four weeks. Seems someplace I ate something VERY bad -- or not cooked correctly. In any event, they have found it and will remove it tomorrow morning.

Thanks for all your prays, e-mails, words of encouragement -- everything. It's often been argued that the internet is impersonal and cold. Well, if this is impersonal and cold, that's just fine with me.

I had just read another post by Audiyoda that he was in the hospital and just got out. Then when I first started reading Video_pro's post I was going to lay into him for being such a snot that "The one person that participates in this forum that could answer my question did not -- and I wanted to know why. I had seen for a few weeks that Audiyoda was willing to help anyone." I'm glad my sense got the better of me and I finished the post before I responded.

First and foremost glad to hear Audiyoda is doing well. But I would also like to say that it was a great act on Video_pro's part to take the time and visit, especially for a newbie to the forum. Nice to hear there is still some kindness in the world in light of recent events such as terrorist, anthrax and other event.

I say with complete confidence when I say that the forum users on PCMech are some of the best and most intelligent people and Admins run a outstanding discussion group.

One last message for Audiyoda- GO STATE
