Best portable MP3 for auto ???

I just purchased a 2009 Maxima 3.5S which has the standard stereo with an aux input jack. I wish I had the extra bucks for the SV model which can come with a built in hard drive or compact flash capability but that's just not the case. So, I need to get an MP3 player that is easy to control that will limit my distraction as much as possible from the road utilizing the aux input.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your replies.

What I plan on doing when I get my new vehicle is putting in a brand new head unit.

Get one with usb, and then just use a usb flash drive with music on it. After that, it should just be like switching songs on a cd.

Might cost a bit more up front, but will probably look nicer, and allow for easier use.

i have used a ipod for a couple years now in my vehicle but its all usb interface with a alpine head unit .

works pretty good , freezes once in a while but you just unplug it and plug it back in .

i had a jvc that would take flash drives , never actually used that function just stuck to my ipod .

I use a zune and put everything on shuffle (no, I wouldn't actually outright buy a zune...I got for free). I just hit forward to skip to the next song.

Sorry, I should have specified that it is on lease...therefore I can't change the stereo unit.

In my truck I have an Eclipse dvd, nav unit that has an SD slot which works great and I use that for all my music there. Wish the Max had it.

The car doesn't have an option for an iPod cable? Many new cars do and then you can control the iPod through the factory deck.

There is but you have to have the upgraded stereo that is in a separate option package that is not available on our base 'S' model. The only thing we have is a 1/8" aux plug.
