Interesting Wallpaper Ideas
I have never seen this, but that hardly means it cannot be done.
Is it possible to have an AVI, MPEG, or even an active GIF as a desktop wallpaper? Of course, it would be a waste of resources like nothing else. In Windows, that active desktop option allows you to make an html file a desktop, so if you embedded an AVI in it, would it work? How about Linux or other operating systems? Thought I would ask if it was possible before wasting my time trying to find out. Anyone else have interesting ideas for wallpapering the computer? Respectfully, Demosthenes |

I don't think that you can use html as an active desktop. I think that you can only click on a jpeg on a web page and use it as your desktop. Generally desktops are limited to jpeg's and bmp's.

You can use html and active gifs as an active desktop, not to sure about the AVI or MPEG.

I would imagine that it must be possible somehow. ATI can run a video desktop where the TV display actually appears as your wallpaper, but it's all a matter of figuring out how to do it with a MPEG or AVI.

I recall when win98 first came out and temporarily trying Active Desktop ... using an animated GIF as the wallpaper ... so yes it can be done.
