Take 2 restore CDs
I just tried to back up my PC[Win2000 and proggies] using EZCD Creator 4 Take2
I was very nice to see in about 1 hr. clean Win2000 and all proggies I use, up and running. All e-mail, Internet settings intact. Just wonder: 1st, Take2 insisted on CD-RW discs, and when to restore on clean HDD, it insisted on UDF reader- I understand that in order to use CD-RW disc there should be UDF reader. But HDD was just Fdisked and formatted with MaxBlas, so, no UDF. For some reason, Take2 didn't accept CD-Rs, just CD-RWs Next, I made backup on HDD with 3 500Mb files(Win2000 and all proggies on my clean install was ~2.5G). Then I burned it on 3 CD-rs. After, I was able to restore my PC in ~1hr., and when PC rebooted, there were Win2000 and all proggies I wanted. Very nice. Has anybody done it differently, any suggestions? Also, I want to try it on different HDD(backup/restore) sizes. What about, if I use these restore CD-Rs on system that have different hardware? TIA, Gintaras |

I am thinking about making some image discs w/o any drivers...just use generic drivers so that I can use them on various computers.

I was thinking about since I'd like to build a new PC in like ~1/2 year.
I just hope that after restore, I could remove all hardware from device manager and to reboot- then to install new hardware/drivers. |
