I heard of the concept years ago, but didn't hear much after that. I don't think it ended up going much of anywhere. Nanotech seems to have sprung ahead instead.

There was an article about it a few years ago in Scientific American. To paraphrase Force, I have heard nothing since. Although it does not use binary, our brain is a biological computer.
