Texas Stadium's demolition scheduled for April 11

Quote:
Thousands of pieces of dynamite placed throughout the stadium will bring down Irving's most famous building shortly after dawn April 11 in a nationally marketed, highly publicized event.

And yes, Irving officials want Dallas Cowboys fans to come out and pay their last respects to the building that housed America's Team for 38 seasons.

I've never seen an implosion in person and am thinking watching it on TV might be best.

Recording it on pvr or tivo is even better. When a new structure is built everyone seems to forget the history. Showing the old building to your kids or grand-kids, you invoke a certain amount of respect for the old buildings and structures.

They could really make a point by waiting four days and blowing it up on April 15 at midnight.

I saw an implosion when they demolished the old Hudson's building in Downtown Detroit....it was a fun experience. It's just too bad they can't do that to the Detroit Lions (I'm joking).

Got there two hours early (5am)...They had a loudspeaker system and where playing rock from the 70's...So much for getting a little sleep....The gates opened at 2am and the place was full of party animals that hadn't been home since the bars closed..

Just saw the reply on TV..It's was pretty cool.

For some strange reason, only in Texas does it seem to be "Americas team". Do any Redskins or Packers fans have an explanation?

Makes perfect sense... the economy is in the crapper, so lets blow up something and build a new one.

I've never understood that name either. Always heard it was just because they were on tv so much that people everywhere new what team they were. I guess that was back before satellite tv when you only got a couple games each Sunday. Who knows? I can't really make fun of that name though, even being a Redskins fan, because heck, we're not doing that good anymore either AND we have those "hog-ette" guys that sit in the stands with the dresses, sun hats, and pig noses on. As a Redskin fan though, that implosion WAS rather fun to watch.

My favorite team is Da Bears - my second favorite team is whoever is playing the Cowboys. When the Cowboys play the Packers or Vikings, I have a hard time trying to decide who I'm rooting for.

No favorite team here...not when I have to choose between the Raiders or the Niners. When does Nevada get a franchise? The Vegas Gamblers...perfect.

Could be worse. You could have the Chiefs
