Hey, not so fast! I don't have it yet - I confirmed everything and it will take 3-4 weeks for them to send out the prize! I'll then think about fair offers from here, consider using it myself or put it out on ebay.

We'll see!

It be nice if you could post in this thread when you do get the 'potential' prize. I wonder what that's supposed to mean.

Then would this http://www.xppcentral.com/xpp/home.asp the home of the scam. That's where I entered the drawing. They (AMD) even visited several cities with their promotions - they offered the same thing "Online" and that's where tried to win it.

By the way - they extended their promotion! Give it a try!

Ya know Gintaras, I usually have a ton of respect for you, but that's just un-called for. Everyone get's scammed at one time or another, and I'm sure they feel stupid at that moment. Hell, I've been scammed before -- does that make me stupid? Maybe -- then again I scored a 32 on my ACT's (1986), V-580,Q-620,A-680 on my GRE (1997) and 168 on the LSAT (2001). But as 'intellegent' as my scores on standardized tests make me out to be, I still have been scammed.

Regardless as to if this is a scam or not, your statement is pure flame.

Hey, If it is a scam - at least it did not cost me anything. Ok, they have my address and can send me tons of credit card offers - no big deal. My phone plays a message that I do not accept solicitation + caller ID.

If it is not scam I'll get a new motherboard and a cpu.

Anyway - this promotion tour was quite often announced on techbargains.com and on AMD's web site - so, it better is true or I will need to sell my AMD stock.

If I do not receive anything until christmas I come back to this thread and you guys can beat me up.

Every scam in the world are done on stupid people. I stand by my remark and it isn't a flame.

Stupidity- I don't understand it as 100% white or 100% black, there are 1000's shades of gray.

I sometimes do stupid things on my PC, for instance, I once shut my PC down just by pushing power button.

Let me explainsomething:
Everyone isn't 100% perfect all the time, I mean- 24/7.
Scam can be done on me too- it means, I was stupid enough that moment or to take some stupid decision.

But when it comes to sweepstakes....excuse me....

That doesn't mean much too.
Not knowing about something and participate, can't be called stupid, and otherwise.

Just some of my opinions.
Everyones opinion and perception can cause a flame.
Depending on perspective

Sorry for my previous post.

This my post CAN NOT to be considered a "flame", because something very oppositive to "flame" can't be a "flame".

I was wrong that all scams are done on stupid people, sorry for.
In fact, all the scams are done on very smart people.
Also, I very encourage everyone to fill every sweepstakes form available- you might win, who knows?
In addition, it's in everyones interests to respond to every spam e-mail you receive.
You might make some extra $$'s at home, who knows.

If I were wrong again, I MUST be very stupid

I don't think it had anything to do with it being your opinion -- we are all entitled to that. It was how you said it -- you were generalizing those people who are scammed as stupid.

Well, here's your scam:

http://www.puetz-colorado.com/amdxp/xp.htm

I am desperately trying to get that smile out of my face. Nothing with 3-4 weeks. I had this nice looking package at my front door today.

Thank you, AMD!

Have a great day!

Christoph

PS: Now I have to make up my mind if I replace my 3 week old AMD XP 1700+ with the XP 1800+ or what ? What do you think?

Very nice. Lucky dog.
Let us know how you like the set up.
With the Gigabyte board and all.
Reviews for that board have been good.

Hey LawyerRon,

I know what you mean and I never felt offended or so. Don't worry!

I wasn't sure myself either - especially as I usually do not fall for any sweepstakes. I had heard about this one from neutral sources and I really like AMD (I am even holding stock in AMD), so that I decided to go for it. They were actually touring the US and I missed them when they were here in Denver because I had to work.

Oh, well ... - an early christmas present!

Hi Chilidog,

I posted the URL to the AMD sweeptstake site a little earlier in this thread.

I do not know if the whole thing is still going or if they stopped. Check it out and maybe let everyone here know if there are more chances of winning. I promise - I got mine - I am done - I do not wanna be greedy!

Christoph,
Actually I misread your orignial post; I thought the offer was from a third party and not AMD. From the solicitation it appeared so at first. Anyway, I'm glad you won.

Hi Bosco,

Good Luck with the AMD XP giveaway!

I kept the board and made another machine out of it! Everything runs very stable and I think I made the right decision about it! I just wonder if they give away the same stuff (XP1800 + Gigabyte board) or if you would get the newer cpu?

Yup, and typical, open to US residents only. That's OK, If I had won, I would have sold it for Intel parts anyway.

Why do you smell a scam? Read the whole thread and let me know! I indeed did win and received the processor and the motherboard within 10 days of notification.
