What markup!!

Even knowing of auto repair shops selling parts for a markup, isn't $123.98 for a Front Hub Assembly for a Chevrolet Cavalier (part 51307k) when it can be found online easily for less than half that (and even the list price isn't that high) highway robbery? I guess the $69. for labor isn't too bad, but if one includes the extreme markup for the part, yikes!

Well, rockauto.com, where I have bought some parts dirt cheap compared to up here, shows $128 for an AC Delco front bearing hub on my Sunfire (probably the same thing on your Cavalier). What brand of bearing is it? There are quality parts and econo parts... if you are planning to keep the car, you don't want the econo parts.

I do know what you mean though, here, for my truck, they want $370 for a front hub with ABS sensor. I purchased a Timken bearing from rock auto for $160 delivered to my door.

This was supposed to be quality which I did want. I think they found one around $20. cheaper. I am uncertain on the brand. I searched by the ID#, but never realized different manufacturers used the same ID#. I know they do on lightbulbs and stuff like that, but figure these sorts of parts wouldn't keep a consistent #. However, here is what Rock Auto has:

Quite often, but not always, when you find the same part number on multiple brands, they are junk, Chinese made parts.

BTW, the link you gave was just to the Rock Auto catalogue, not the part.

Yeah, sorry I missed a number. I don't know that they would have used an OEM part, but I suppose it is possible. I wish I had had them keep the old one. They might have put it in the box and then I would have known.

Ya, sounds like they were pricing an AC Delco or something. Timken or Moog would have been the way to go if you had a choice.

Betcha the AC Delco is made by Timken or Moog anyway - unless GM is really slimy and is getting them from China and marking them up obscenely.

Most likely, then they put their markup on it and you get that wonderful pricing.
