First day of the new job comedy show.

Well, first day on the job was a comedy of errors... I show up at the location listed on my job offer sheet about ten minutes before 8 this morning... nobody has a clue who I am or why I am there... a few phone calls later, find out they listed the wrong location on my paperwork... drive to the North end of town where I will be working, meet with my previous supervisor who jokes about me being late first day on the job. Well... it doesn't end there... I live and work in Regina, my corporate profile shows me working in Prince Albert with a phone number in Weyburn (none of these places are close to each other). Finally, I received a paystub and pay for today (they pay up to date on the 15th and the end of the month) and I'm still on the student pay scale. Of course, I only have access to half the programs I need and don't have a FOB for the security door yet.... we'll see how tomorrow goes

That would make me nervous. Maybe they are testing your adaptive skills

I assume, since the boss seems to have a sense of humor, that all this isn't happening for the first time.

Once you're settled in this will be funny.

It could be worse. You could still be in school and on your way there driving a Ford.

I've found that the the first day or two at a new job can sometimes be chaotic, as it's rare that anyone has done much prep work for the new hire (HR paperwork, login info, email account, security access, etc).

Well that's just it... I remember my first work term with the RCMP.. took a week to get my pass card.. considering EVERY door you went through around there required it.. made that first week a bit difficult. It wasn't much better with the second work term with my current employer... two weeks to get the key FOB... but that was just to get in the building, once in, not a prob. Third work term, they had my ID and FOB right away, but none of my programs to do my job for a week.

I was just picking on Hal because of his strong feelings about Ford.

HAL9000, your first day at work had been a real adventure. I’m sure after a week you will have access and things will be more comfortable for you.
